it arrived-
delay with a incorrect Permit to Acquire.
but its in our hands now all good.
took it out to shoot this Sarvo!! i was sooooo keen to beat the Dark.

shot some what came with 75gr HP loads! very nice.
then some reloads i made up with 85gr BTSP.... under an inch but room for development before settling on that for Deers. Fallow Deer, a small species.

should be good for Dogs with the 75gr HP bullets i got!

set trigger is awesome.
scope is a Vixen 4-16 x an is nice to zoom up on target at 100m. can see holes easily etc.

happy days --6x47 HD.jpgd2b78e90-0790-466e-921f-48eb0ef9c844.jpgaf554400-f9f3-40f6-ba3a-c0faa9e2c5fe.jpg

So can anyone confirm this is likely a Bedding issue?
Seemed to do 2 near one away.

I shot these groups prior to pulling apart and cleaning the gun --

This is a 6 shot group.. 2x3 shot. Would shoot 2 alright then throw?
2 are well out Left field. (my 85 gr loads)

These RED ones are a 4 x shot group AFTER I cleaned the gun. Pulled apart out of stock, bore cleaned etc.
This is 75gr HP (not my loads came with gun)

Group to Right is before cleaning. Same 85gr load as above. First group of day.

Here are some test groups ALL before pulling apart and cleaning . 100gr looks OK.. 1 gr More went AWOL!?

Here's inside the gun..... Dodgy bedding job? A pressure point in the front..

WHAT CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT THIS

Its taking a minute to get used to the set trigger too.

I need to organise sand bags to shoot off.

A few issues and the shooting is proberly me at this stage.

I'll test some other rounds tomorrow

If it were me, I would make sure your bags are really solid, and get completely familiar with the trigger before doing anything rash to the bedding.

Cat
100% Cat!
I was talking to the bloke who give it to me..
I asked if he'd shot a group with it...
Said yeah almost touching....

Not sure if Marketing ploy or truth 😂😂😂

Hmmm I agree with cat, that said after you get use to the gun it shouldn’t take long, you shoot lots and I find that when I shoot lots going from one gun to the other is a pretty fast transition so after that, I would probably start with free floating the barrel, and re bedding the action.
How light is that rifle? I read that light rifle need “light” handling and the use of a softer front bag to rest the forearm on. Even having your hand between front rest and the forearm helps sometimes.
Anyways just ideas. Good luck and keep us updated!!

If I see this correctly, your ammo is all corroded, you can't expect much from such ammo.

I own an Anschütz rifle in 308 Win from 1972, built on the same Krico action, with double set triggers.
The rifle has a quite thin barrel and accuracy improved drastically once I put a piece of leather in the barrel channel, 2" from the Schnabel, to create upwards pressure (5-7 lbs).
They do the same with the Enfield rifles (not the leather, but the upwards pressure), that's where I got the idea from, and it works beautifully.

Also, there is already some bedding material, which means the accuracy problem is not new.

Try the trick with the leather strip, and it should improve, best of all it's an easy fix and costs next to nothing.

The bedding job is ####e at best, he mentioned a pressure point towards the end of the forehand. I would definitely grind it off and do the leather trick that Mephisto mentioned.

gday!
The brass is this old lol

not too sure if its coroded or just has that old brass colour to it-- its old. lol.

It does have a "pressure" point about 2 inch back, or where the swivel stud is....

Barrel isn't free floating but they've sorta of tried to clear it a bit--

Assume that you cut a thin piece of leather and sandwich it between barrel and stock. Then tighten the action screws down?

I've got some 75gr reloads with Speer and 4895 to try today.
Make some shooting bags an get focused on the trigger touch.

Also some 100gr grand slams which showed promise -+

I'll report back in a few hours ,

hey dgy, rifle is 'light' in the stock end, an you can tell it has a 24 inch barrel which im not real used to LOL
but the pistol grip is SKINNY! an i actually find it isnt well planted at all- nice offhand shooter- can hit the 100m gong off hand no worries!!
but holding steady on the table with my #### bag set up is finicky id say, hence why i rekon the groups arnt proper indication- slightly exagerated !

fresh day and a better attempt coming up!

New setup alot better
Live from the field ina Glorolious day here in Aussie
75gr HP load 4x shots went well.
But I found backing the ZOOM off the scope a bit is helping too. 16X is up there .. 12x looks less pinpoint wobbly!

HAHAHA
Far out.
Maybe the same Brass might help. 🤦🤦

I have some on RP brass and all the rest in SAKO brass.
So that's half the battle I rekon 🤷

But the reloads I got with gun were made up with 2207..... 4198....
How's this though... 24gr loads and 28.5 gr loads.... Compressed as and what a difference.

To be clear, I've shot a couple of those and totally unsure of the sequence.

Most of the quizzing has been on my own reloads.

But far out... Rookie assumptions !!

Will probly just shoot the reloads at one target an see what happens..... No point saving them for anything.

Shortened COAL in 2 steps to test tomorrow.
