Krieger Heavy Pattern...what stocks will fit?

Hey guys, I'm wondering what stocks will fit with an M-14 having a Krieger Heavy Pattern barrel installed.

Would either USGI wood or USGI fibreglass stocks fit? Boyds wood stock?

I'm guessing many of the new style aluminum stocks would probably work, but my first choice would be a fibreglass USGI stock glass bedded...would that work? Significant modifications required?
 
I don't know for certain. But I'm pretty sure a USGI stock would fit. Where as the new aluminum ones won't because some of them use their own op rod guide.
 
Just to re-confirm , you are talking about the HEAVY Krieger match barrel correct?

Understand that the HVY match barrel has it's own factory supplied or proprietary op rod guide that is nowhere similar to the op rod guides supplied by the great folks at Blackfeather or Sage. They are not gonna fit. Now if you consider the Medium weight Krieger barrel you should have a match since the Medium profile barrel uses the usgi op rod guide.

Now iirc the Blackfeather op rod guide is positioned slightly back further and this may cause a conflict. I am not totally sure since I've only done ONE install in the past.

Done lots of med profile barrel swaps and they spin on the Norc receiver or Springfield receiver so sweetly.

Yes, that's my understanding. The HEAVY, not medium.

Yes, the pic I saw of the barrel I'm buying shows it has it's own custom op rod guide, I assume made by or for Krieger's heaviest M1A barrels.

And now I think of it, I can see how you might be wondering if that non-standard guide might interfear with some of these new aluminum stocks. I don't have any modern stocks, and don't plan to use any.

Thing is though, I have my heart set on using a fibreglass USGI stock...would that work?

Sounds great!

I'm not gonna rush this, as I've not even considered what scope base or scope to use yet. And I plan on getting a couple more books/manuals and whatever tools needed to do this properly (lapping compound too, I think that's part of it). No rush, just careful deliberate and follow the advice and instructions of those who have done so before.
 
Ah the favorite stock of mine, the usgi glass stock.

Your newly installed Hvy Krieger barrel WILL fit inside there. If that's the concern then you need not worry. And it should just barely clear the handguard, too.

Go ahead and order one from any of the great vendors on here. I am in communication with them and my only hope now is that the products are shipped from the mfg'er soonest. :)

I am looking for a stock for my M305 with a Criterion Medium contour barrel, is there any other then the Blackfeather that wont fit it?
