Krieger M-14 18.5" barrels

When I e-mailed krieger about international shipping of m14 barrels they said that they wouldn't fit the chinese built m14-type rifles. They also said they don't have any international retailers.

Do you think they meant that these barrels would require some US gas system parts? Or could it be that they think the threading receiver/barrel in our rifles is different from the american rifles?

USGI barrels screw right into the Chinese receivers that have been widely sold here, and index properly. I would assume that Kreiger barrels are made to USGI specs. The gas cylinder lock threads might be the issue.

I have not heard word one from Ian on this and have heard from others that the barrels aren't coming........
can the OP please update us.
I have a flood of emails and p.m.'s with questions about these barrels and questions on when they are arriving and seen as i am not the guy who posted this thread and got everyone's hopes up, and I am not the krieger dealer....... I'd like some answers from the source....... please. Here on CGN in this thread prefferably. I do not have time to answer all the Krieger questions arriving in my business email account as I have my own business to run.

as for compatabilty
here is what is involved
step 1) the krieger barrels require a minimum 1 degree under cut at the torque shoulder and sometimes more depending on the receiver.
Step 2) once installed to correct index and with 80 to 90 foot lbs of torque to get it there, the chamber must be finish reamed (on non chrome line short chambered versions) to the desired headspace with the bolt/receiver combination you have chosen.
3) you must install the oprod guide (chinese or U.S. BOTH fit although in either case you still should expect to have to fit the part by carefully reducing the diameter of the barrels oprod guide location.
4) chinese/taiwanese and US gas assemblies all fit , but again, reduction of the barrels gas assembly mounting surface (where the gas port is) may be in order
5) you MUST use a USGI spec or equivalent Gas Lock
6) you MUST use a USGI spec Castlenut

I do hope these barrels are arriving....... but as of now, I am opting out on this deal for the TWO barrels I ordered unless the OP shows up and let's us know what is going on.

I just wish Ian would do us the courtesy of a reply in this thread. Lord knows I know what it's like to get so overwelmed with emails and questions that a guy can tend to go into shut down mode...... but seriously.
I have not been told of a 20 week wait for these barrels, I was under the understanding that they would be in in 60 to 90 days.... where i got that from i can't recall.

would anyone be interested in getting in on a "possible" large, 20 to 30 barrel order of custom turned shilen or mcgowan barrels? I have just entered into discussion with someone who may be able to make it happen...... and I have the necessary barrel blueprints to make it happen..... BUT I'm not so rich as to float 20 or 30 premium barrels hehehe

hey Guys, I got word from Ian today that these barrels are still coming, but no doubt he is having to jump through the hoops to get them for us.
I apologized to Ian for seemingly giving him a hard time via some of the wording in my posts. He is doing us a great service, and it IS appreciated big time.

please hold off emailing me with questions on these...... and I will honour the many install quotes i gave to folks who ordered these, when they do arrive.

Well, it's the end of the year and still no barrels. I ordered mine at the end of August. This looks like one of these deals where I put all my parts aside and move on to another project and hope the barrel comes in sometime this year. They said delivery was supposed to be around the end of September, I just didn't realise it was 2011.

getting barrels unfortunately take a while, I've ordered two from Ian in the past, its best to have some patience and all will be well.

Welcome to the supply side economics of Canadian firearms.

i bought a Kreiger 22" DMR profile SS barrel from Ian this Christmas. It was in stock, and I knew supply can be hit and miss so I jumped at the chance to purchase it.

Ultra fast shipping and good communication throughout. There was a clerical error on billing, and Ian resolved it within a single business day.

I will not hesitate to buy from him again when I require another project barrel. Great product and service.

If I were to get a Krieger barrel, what kind of mods am I looking at if I wanted to install a imperial barrel to a metric gun? Barrel, bolt, gas assembly? Thanks for the help guys!

Only the threads on the gas lock and castle nut are different on chinese barrels. So if you rebarrel a norc m14 with a krieger.. and use all your stock chinese parts, the only extra pieces you'd need are a GI/M1a gas lock and castle nut. The barrel to receiver threads are the same

And I will be receiving one of these shortly.:D

i heard from a client that he had heard from Ian..... so I p.m.'d Ian and got a reply with good news on tuesday...... I had ordered 2 but only need one now......... and it arrived yesterday morning....... that is a canpost/online purchase record LOL
I know Ian is super busy with Barrels and stuff outside barrels so be patient, if you were on his list i'm sure you will be hearing from him, and there is one extra cuz i only took one of the two i ordered. I thought we would never see these barrels due to the hassles with exporting m14 stuff but once again , Ian pulled through, despite some of us givin him the gears a little ( )

Howdy!

Yes, I have indeed received the first 20 barrels. Now, I have been in contact with a few who committed and they have apparentky changed their minds. I would ask that if you put your name on one, but have not paid, please get a hold of me ASAP. First come with payment, first served.

These are really awesome barrels; we scoped and measured run-out and they are absolutely friggen amazing. they are pre-threaded, crowned, already parkerized, and short chambered.

PLEASE use my email... sales@riflebarrels.ca or riflebarrels@telus.net.

riflebarrels@telus.net.

Obtunded:

I'm hoping that the CGN M14 addicts who asked for these barrels are gonna step up to their commitment! You have been super kind to order them. :D A Krieger barrel is one of those finer things in life (then again, any custom barrel like McGowan, Shilen, Douglas, Hart, Obermeyer, Broughton, etc etc etc are all awesome). :)

Cheers,
Barney
