Krinker Plinker Kit - Ideas on How to keep it non-restricted ?

I import the 16" Kits from the USA. When installed and folded, The OAL is less then 26 inches. The "Kit" alone is of no concern. However, once installed on the 10/22 the folding stock MUST be permanetly altered to no longer fold. A set-screw is NOT enough! If you get caught with an unaltered folding stock, You run the risk of loosing ALL your toys! The unaltered folding Plinker is Prohib. Does not meet OAL requirements.

Prohibited Firearms Include:

"Firearms adapted from rifles or shotguns by sawing, cutting or ANY other alteration, that when adapted in this way, are less than 660mm (26inches) long."

other alteration would be installing the Krinker Plinker Kit.

Okey, I recently got my Krinker kit with 16.5inch barrel. When I assembled it and measured the OAL while stock is folded it was 23.5 inches. I am agree - it is PROHIBITED !

What I am trying to do now in order to keep it NON RESTRICTED while stock folded is:

I got metal shop who will make for me another fake silencer, exactly the same as comes with Krinker BUT 3 inches LONGER. Than I am planing to put it on my krinker with RED locktied. After that my OAL should be 26.5 inches. Also since I am using RED locktied it will be impossible to remove the FS with out using tools (heating is needed in order to remove FS with RED locktied).

Please tell me if I am wrong with my idea ? ;)

P.S. Also I contacted with my CFO agency and asked them to issue for me new registration certificate where it is going to be says: Barrel lenght: 410mm or greater which means 16.5 inches

Dude, please leave it alone, everytime you bring this up your putting the rest of us in danger. Nobody from the CFC is going to come over with a tape measure.

The Krinker was already a grey area in Canada, the CFC was leaving the subject alone, it doesn't help when you call them.

Shoot your rifle, stop thinking too hard, and do not call the CFC and tell them that every Krinker owner in Canada is breaking the law, you'll end up getting our rifles put onto the Restricted list.Just leave it alone.

right, I agree. Just stop being rententive about length. Once a 10/22 always a 10/22. Please keep that in mind. who cares if it is a krinker plinker.

I appoligize if I seemed upset towards you. I am just concerned, I own a Krinker the same as you do, and I do not want it to become Restricted, phoning the CFC is one way to do that.

So far, the Krinker has been somewhat of a "gray area" in Canada, some people say Restricted, some say no problem, depending on who you speak with at the CFC. What we don't want is to push a REAL answer from them. And calling and asking every month is how to get the rest of us in trouble as well.

Listen Vinzer, you'll be fine, nobody from the CFC or the RCMP are going to measure your rifle, most cops do not know the rifle length law anyway, show them your Ruger 10/22 registration cert and all will be fine. Thogh I have never been confronted about any of my firearms, in fact a family friend is a RCMP, and he though the Krinker I have was pretty cool, he never mentioned anything about length laws. I had to inform him of what they were.

For real now, don't bring this up again another month from now, just relax and go shooting before winter comes. And take the CFO number off speed dial my friend. LOL :)

ajayofcanada :D do not appoligize - everything is fine.
you know, I am agree with you. I also do not want CFO make our Krinkers restricted at one day. I will follow you suggestion and definatelly not gonna talk with CFO about this. And I am sure that no one gonna check my OAL at the range or in the woods.

Winter is comming and hunting season is opened - Time for Action :shotgun:

Cheers,
Vinzer

here's a pic of mine, it originally came with the 16in barrel, but I bought a 8.5in and a flash suppressor (both from fabsports), I then did some drilling and put 3 rails on the handguard, rails from Fabsports, then added a laser sight from Marstar, and a fake Eotech from Fabsports. As well as a Tactical Inc cnc'd aluminum magazine.

It's awesome to think this is Non Restricted.

By the way, how do you like the VZ 858, I am debating buying one of those eventually. After I finish paying for my current AR15 build of course. :) So many guns, so little time, and cash.

It looks awesome ! :) Me like very much !
Once I found picture of another Krinker with mag attached to it. And that mag was different from the one you (I have basically the same one like you) have. That mag was with flat sides and much wider. Do you have any idea what kind of mag is that one ? I will try to find the link to that picture.

Also I like your laser sight, for speed target shooting it is the best.
What about accuracy and groups while using 8.5 incehs barrel ? Just to compare with my 16.5'.

VZ was my first ever gun in Canada. Long time ago I used to be in Russian army for few years. There I used to shoot with AK-47. Comparing to AK I would say that VZ is not the best "copy" of it, how ever I am happy with my one. I did some mods on it and shoot at least 1500 rounds so far thru it. So far so good. I like the groups I can get with it. I have POSP 8x42 optics installed.

Also the ammunition is extremely cheap for VZ. 7.62x39 is around 220$ for 1150 rounds. There is negative part in here - ammunition is corrosive, and you have to clean your barrel almost immideatelly after shooting. But this is not a big deal for me since I used to do it for years :)

Get one VZ 858 and I am sure you will be happy with it :shotgun:

This is the picture I talked about. what kind of mag is used with this Krinker ??? It is not standart banana clip for sure..

Why not ask the guy you stole the pic from...
I think that was done by member Boo if I'm not mistaken.
(Edit to add: member Baal did that krinker plinker).

blah blah...
VZ was designed independently from AK
and it was not even intended to be a "replacement".
There are more differences than similarities.
They do not share one single interchangeable part.
Please, don't ever ever EVAR suggest that, on this site or elsewhere.
This discussion about VZ/AK ENDS HERE. Thank you, vinzer

Sorry, I did not get your point...

I did not stated that AK has something similar with VZ, word "copy" in my context had a meaning of _more or less similar look of AK and VZ but not the parts inside or even tech specs. Also I did not understand what did I suggest wrong here ? Please explain your point, better in PM

Thank you.

You probably found it on craiglist, right?

What part of "this discussion ENDS HERE" don't you understand?

Looks almost like a Mad Dog magazine, but mad dog makes 22 mags for the AR 22 conversion kits. I can't remeber the exact name, mad dog, black dog, whatever.

You could probably say the VZ-58 was a substitute for the AK-47.

That mag is made by Eagle International, Eagle 2230...30 rounder. I just picked up two. Seem OK, plastic lips.
