After I shot someones .22 AR look-alike at the range on Wednesday, I decided I needed a "cool" .22 to shoot. I've been researching these Krinker Plinker kits and saw the 16" barrel version on Questar. Man, this is the next rifle I am getting. I think I'll buy the kit before I even buy the 10/22. :D For some reason I like the version with the fake suppresor, maybe because you can keep the folding stock that way. I will probably never fire the rifle with the stock folded, but I didn't feel right about having to alter the design of the kit. I just thought I would post about my excitement. What sort of sights to these rifles have? Thanks for reading.

I've never seen one in person before. They certainly sound cool. I am sure one was for sale around here not too long ago.... might have been Ardent who was selling.

It was Badboybeeson.

Mr. chooch and questar are selling the kits. They're nice little toys but the 8" barrel and baffles aren't as forgiving to the ears as other rimfires tend to be.

I bought one. The sights are quite robust. Zeroing is very easy as the front sight adjusts for elevation very much like an AR 15 and the rear sight has a windage knob on the right side (like the later M1 Carbine sights). The rear sight is a flip style with large and small apertures. Both front and rear sights are protected by wings. Overall a very nice, well made set of iron sights. Also has a rail for optics. In fact the entire kit is quite well made and finished.

You'll love the Krinker Plinker! It's a BLAST to shoot, especially dumping full mags as fast as you can and actually hitting 12" plates at 100m! sweeeeeeet.

You can trick them out nice too.

hey sxyglock17, i notice the stock and sides of the reciever look differenton yours than ive seen on some others, also ive seen pics with 2 differetn style of end on the barrel. which is which, and what is better?

There are three versions of the Krinker Plinker:

1: Wire stock, Single aperature sights, Rail is bolted to receiver AND barrel.
1.5: Wire stock, Dual aperature sights, rail is bolted only to receiver, barrel top cover is different.
2.0: Plastic stock, dual aperature sights, etc,

They are all good. The version 1.0 had some pretty crappy sights, but most people put a red dot on it anyway. 1.5 and 2.0 have great stock sights. Some people like the wire stock, some people like the new one.

8" barrel with a welded folder, or a 16" barrel with a folder, you're choice really.

Mine has a sheet metal stock - not plastic

with the 8 inch barrel if you weld the folder open & flash hider you're unrestricted. if not you have to reregister as restricted.

That would be cool, but check and recheck that you've got 26+ inches in the longest dimention. I suspect it will be a bit short with the 8 inch barrel.

As a comparison, if i was to have Dlask make a short barrel for the R22, the shortest I can go and still stay over 660mm is 11 inches.

My Zombie gear (Krinky is 3 down with the Tasco Red-dot). No idea of groups yet. I am still trying to get the optics seated properly and the rest of the time I was laying down 'suppressing' fire with cheap ammo at clays

sxyglock,
12" groups....is that with an 8" barrel? has anyone tried doing some serious target shooting with it yet (scoped)?

pitdogboy,
what kind of barrel is that? did it come in the kit? can you put any bull barrel that can fit on a regular 10/22?

Nice collection;)

you got quite a similar set up to mine.

-tikka t-3 SS (not tik tac), but did throw on a harris bi-pod, 3-10x40 3200 w/ BC flip up's, side saddle. (1 round throught it)

-(synthetic) rem 870 18" w/ factory mag extension, side saddle (new, unfired)

I guess I'll compare your kinker plinker to my custom 10/22

sks on the way w/ choate stock (should be showing up anyday now).

and others (factory 10/22, toz-78, win 30-30, stevens 200....ect.)

got alot of new rifles this past year, 6 in total, (sold 1).... also got alot of shooting ahead of me this summer;)

Good point i'll check when I finally put it together. I was assuming it would be OK if the flash hider is also welded in place as it counts towards the overall length -(although not the barrel length). A stock extension might be in order.

Yep, 8" barrel shooting the crap 525 federal bulk pack walmart ammo :)

I've never shot paper with it, it's too much fun to shoot things that make noise :)
