hi folks i am thinking on buying a (non-restricted) krinkerplinker kit or a rifle already modified.
i have seen several for sale but they are all restricted(folding stock, short barrel)
can you order a non-restricted kit in canada
can one thats already been branded restricted be modified to non-restricted and/or is it worth the headache

If it has the 8" barrel with a folding stock it's under the 26" and become restricted.

With the folder permanently fixed open the 8" barrel is over 26" and is supposed to be non-restricted.

The 16" barrels are over 26" folded or open and therefore are supposed to be non-restricted.

If buying used, beware, not all owners have changed the registration to reflect the change in barrel length from an 18" 10/22 to a 16" or 8" barrel.

Likewise, some that have changed the registration, and then had the CFC incorrectly register them as restricted, have not fought it hard enough. If the folder is welded open, it's no longer a folder and the gun should not be restricted.

We have the 16" and the 8" inch versions instock at $450. Also have Ruger 10/22's instock at $219 and can install the kit for you if you want for a fee.

As said, the 16" kit remains non-restricted no matter if the stock is folded or not, and the 8" kit needs to be welded open or reregistered as restricted.

Some people have made custom full stocks out of AK or CZ stocks to make the 8" barrel'd gun over 26" Lots of info if you search the Rimfire section.
