Kriss Vector - Folding stock or not?

I have an early Gen 2 Vector and have been flirting with the idea of replacing the factory stock with the original folding stock, but I'm on the fence. Looking for opinions of people who have tried both. Pros and cons? Any thoughts?

I figured what the heck, and went full retard by installing the original factory folder. The Vector is the most awkward-looking firearm in my inventory, so it may as well have the matching fugly folding stock. It makes for a much smaller package when folded and is surprisingly comfortable when deployed, so what's not to like? Go for it - you won't look back....

Lol, funny how perspectives differ. I actually prefer the aesthetics of the folding stock, it's part of my motivation! Thank you for your input.

My biggest reason against the folding stock is giving up the QD cups on the factory collapsable stock. I have a Magpul MS4 thats works really well in the current configuration.

I just recently got a Vector; my first time playing with one. Mine is a gen2 gun, and I didn't even know that the stock folded until I opened the package! My stock is quite different in appearance than that pictured above. The folding feature seems fairly inconvenient; it appears as though I need to remove the vertical hinge pin and partially separate the hinge before folding or unfolding is possible. If i were to try folding it without disengaging the hinge the plastic tab that locks it into the deployed position looks like it wouldn't withstand too many open/close cycles without breaking.

Your photos show that the stock has a grooved semi-circular release button which appears to unlock it for folding; nothing like that on mine. It's more of a semi-quick-release stock removal system, rather than what is normally thought of as a folder.

Very cool gun otherwise. I have tried most of the non-restricted PCC's and this is the first one that makes me think it may be time to sell my Beretta. The Kriss seems just as accurate, just as problem-free (only a few hundred rounds fired, so this is probably premature) and more attractive in a funky kind of way. The only areas in which the Beretta beats it out are in compactness and between-the-hands balance.

The stock on mine collapses and "folds". I'll try to post a pic later.

If yours is the standard Gen2 AR-style collapsing stock, then it is not meant to fold. This is why you have to remove the Axis Pin to separate the stock from the firearm in order to replace it in the "folded" position. The actual idea is to pull out the Axis Pin, throw away the Collapsible Stock, replace it with the factory Folding Stock (with the circular Latching Button that you noted on mine), and then replace the Axis Pin to hold the folding stock on the gun. The removable Axis Pin simply facilitates swapping backmp and forth between the fixed/collapsing stock and the folding version.

thanks guys. That changes things. I had talked myself out of getting one as I was under the impression no folding on a gen two.

Mind if I ask how much for the folding stock?

I paid $169 shipped but like others have said make sure your gen2 is an early one and has the hinge.

So yeah. Your stock does not fold in the way the original folding stock does. You have an early model gen 2, and yes, with some finagling you can make the stock fold, but that is not hos the original folding stock works. You should be able to depress the button and easily fold the stock to the side. You have the gen 2 buffer tube and stock assembly. The good new there is that if you wanted to, you could purchase the original folder and replace your stock assembly with that.

Later model gen 2s do not accomodate the original folding stock. I have heared that Kriss is releasing a folding stock assembly that is compatible with later model gen 2s, but I have not personally seen it or know anything about it.

I had a gen 1 in .45acp with the folding stock. Loved it, but, at the time, finances dictated that I had to sell it. Miss it a lot, it was my favorite gun, but alas, it was the one I had sale for at the time.

I have an older .45 ACP version when they only came with the folding stock, after purchasing it I bought the Kriss M4 stock adapter and a Magpul UBR stock. And after trying it I prefer the folding stock, because of how its shoulder rest position is lower then the M4 stocks. It just feels better for how I shoot that gun in a squared up stance not weaver stance...No regrets I still have both setups and can switch them but I prefer the folder

Other then that it also folds up into a much smaller package with the folding stock, and I actually think M4 stock look funny on it because Im just used to seeing the gun as it was designed opposed to having an AR15 stock adapted to it....

Thanks for the explanation, gents. Opening the box it took 0.005 seconds to see that "hinge" and say to myself "Cool! It folds, too!". Then it took 60 seconds or so of playing and examining it to come to the conclusion that no, it doesn't really fold, not in the accepted sense of the word.

Then at least a few days of minor butt-hurt every time I thought about that tantalizing, teasing great big "hinge" getting my hopes up. :)

I see on the Kriss website that the folding stock lists for $90US. The option of getting this makes me realize how lucky I was to get an early Gen2 gun rather than the current one that needs more work/cost to get a folder. Butt no longer sore.
