Just picked up my Kriss the other day and its a pleasure to shoot. I've been using the S&B ammo and no problems at all.

I can't believe how dead simple this gun is and how easy to break down.

So I have a few questions.

My friend reloads and sells fairly cheap. Does anyone know how well the Kriss fares with cast lead bullets or copper coated bullets? Don't want to use them if they are known to cause issues.

Cocking and bolt release mechanism are really stiff. I shoot left so its a little bit of a effort to reach over with my right hand and ####, or activate the bolt release. Any easy way to lube them up so they move a little easier or is it a matter of break in time.

Also, any recommendations on a sight? I was thinking an Eotech of some type but I don't know much about them and can't make up my mind.

Thanks for that. Another side effect of being a lefty shooter. One of the many LOL.

One thing I really appreciate about this gun is the fact that it ejects the brass forward, and not into my face like ARs and other rifles. Its actually so accurate I could almost put down a can and the brass would land directly in it.
 
the manual for the kriss says not to use reloads or it will void your warranty. how they would know unless you told them is what i would like to know?
 
I bought the Kriss here. Although it was NiB the seller lost the manual when he had the box open so I didn't get to read that piece of info. I will download it right now.
 
I have a non restricted version and I've found the cocking handle to be stiff but it is getting slightly easier as it breaks in. I would guess mine has around 500 rounds through it now and it's getting better.
I handload for mine. 200gr JHP from Berry's over 7.1gr of Unique is fairly accurate but I haven't chrony'd them yet. I also have loads with the same bullet using 800-x and Universal that cycle well. Mine has also eaten all factory loads I've fed it as well. I haven't tried any cast loads yet but probably will later this summer.
I learned that it needs to be lubed with oil in the winter, I had it lubed with gun grease when it was around -20C and had a few failures. It's beed 100% since I switched to oil.

Just don't tell them you run reloads if you need warranty service. Unless you break it by running a double charge through it they won't be able to tell you handload.
 
I just sold my P30L and I'm looking at getting one of these. What are they like to shoot? Are they reliable and do they mitigate recoil as good as they advertise? Looks like a neat little toy, I'm wanting to get the restricted version.

Almost no muzzle climb and the recoil is just a tap. My air gun delivers more recoil.

Can't say yet as to its accuracy yet. Just shot some gongs on the pistol range after a quick sight in. Double taps are a breeze :)

If your friend is not on this list he's most likely doing something illegal which is manufacturing ammunition without a license.
This is a federal crime.

I phrased that improperly. I asked him if it were possible to whip me up a batch while he is making his own and he was going to sell them to me at a reasonable cost to cover his expenses. Part of the deal is I give him my once fired brass to help defray the cost.

I have the gear to reload myself but don't have the time.
 
Its illegal to sell reloads as a business without a license.

Running off a few for a friend and having them pay for materials is kind of a grey area. One of those "everything is legal if you don't get caught" situations.

Selling reloaded ammo without a licence is illegal. You can get away with loading for or buying from a friend but just remember that it only takes a tiny mistake and you could at worst kill someone or at best destroy the firearm. It is a huge liability and mostly not worth it. I have reloaded for a friend but I have him come over for a visit and watch while I load and teach him to do it himself.
Reloading is best done for yourself and the ammo shot by the person that loaded it. I've blown up an HK USP Tactical with my loads and ever since then I never let anyone shoot my 45 auto reloads and I am extremely careful when loading now. When I have people out to the range I let them shoot factory loads.
 
It may not be illegal to "distribute" handloads, but it could be dangerous to shoot since one can't verify quality control.
OK to buy if you might be pulling the bullets and just using the components.

That's a bit of an exaggeration but not far off. There is definitely a recoil pulse but it has virtually no muzzle climb. The recoil is hard to describe since it is so different than any other but it's definitely more than an air rifle or 22. Probably more like a 223 AR with a 16" barrel but a little smoother instead of the sharp snap of the 223.
Accuracy is fairly good and I was ringing the gong at 200yds with the iron sights 2 or 3 out of 10 shots once I figured out the holdover. Could probably do better if I was shooting off a rest and taking my time. Was doing 4-5 inch groups at 50yds shooting fairly quickly and having fun.

Had mine out again the other day and ran 10 of my handloads over the chrony. 7.1gr Unique pushing a 200gr Berry's JHP was doing around 1275fps. Fastest was 1300 and slowest was about 1250 (pretty wide spread). I think I'll load a little lighter and get them down around 1050-1100fps.
They cycled great though and also worked well in my 1911 and my G21SF. I should have chronied the loads through the 1911 and G21 for comparison but was having too much fun to be bothered. Maybe next time :)
