Since you're here, any recommendations for a Glock model? Something 9mm just like my vector, so i can share mags. I was eyeballing a G17C, G34 and Gen 5 pistols. Any thoughts on this?
Well I got the Kriss in 45ACP before the new ones came out in 9mm, big reason for that is I wanted to get a SMG style gun in a pistol caliber so for me already owning a G21 in 45ACP it was a perfect match since I could share mags and they are 10 rounders
Since then I have also assembled/built my own 9mm AR15 so I totally get the wanting to share 10 round mags!
So that being said I own 2 Gen 4 Glock 17's and 2 Gen 3 Glock 19's, one modified and one stock for each. I love both but depends on your hand size, the 19 frame size and grip is a little small for some people, the 17 is an all around great gun. It was actually the first gun I ever bought. So I dont think you can go wrong with either, unless you want something with a longer slide and barrel you can look at the Glock 34 or 17L
The C models are cool too, my G21 started off as a G21C, but I have since changed out the barrel to one that is not ported. I dont know if I really noticed a huge difference in the ported/comp barrel on the .45 but it sure was cool seeing the double flames coming out the top in videos. They were not really noticeable while shooing but in video can clearly be seen..
Either way all around I do not think you can go wrong with any of the 17 models for you first Glock, especially if you are into mods, that is one of the reasons I wanted a Glock was to get into modifying them with parts and accessories.
As far as Gen I have not tried the 5 yet, but between 3-4 there is not a huge difference, 3 comes with one less magazine from new 2mags vs 3mags with a gen 4. The gen 4 also has the ability to change mag release from left or right handed and interchangeable back straps, although I never used any of them
For mods when I modded my Gen 4 17 all the parts I put in it replaced the Gen4 stuff with gen 3. To do away with the double recoil spring, so it kinda turned it into a Gen 4 frame with Gen 3 recoil spring and rod.
