If I took my Vector with the 16.5” barrel and replaced it with the shortest barrel while still maintaining oal of 26” is that fine? Seems to be some issues importing the short barreled versions
 
With rimfire "long guns" barrel length doesn't matter, so as long as you maintain a 26" OAL and the stock does not telescope or fold to allow it to fire shorter than 26", you are legal to what the law says and the requirements are, but with out an acknowledgment of the RCMP via frt its still a grey area how they will see it.
 
I haven't had a chance to look at a 22 version yet but the Centerfire versions have a barrel pressed into a trunnion which is riveted to the reciever. Not the easiest change but you should be able to find a competent gunsmith that can do it. I would imagine Herron Arms is capable.
