Krylon Camouflage Paint - only 4 color choices?

Say it isn't so!!! Krylon used to make a whole bunch of ultra flat camo colors, but from their website it now appears they only sell four colors:
Black - 4290
Khaki - 4291
Brown - 4292
Olive - 4293

These are all sold as Krylon Camouflage Paint with Fusion Technology and the numbers are different than the "old" stuff.
Woodland Camo Scheme:
- Khaki 8141
- Olive 8143
- Brown 8142
- Black 8140
3 Color Desert Camo Scheme:
- Sand Dune 8148
- Medium Brown 8147
- Brown 8142
Winter/Urban Camo Scheme:
- White 8144
- Light Gray 8149

I guess it doesn't really matter what they used to sell - it's what's available today that counts. I wanted to stay within the Krylon family because I haven't got a clue about what types of paints can cover one another (Alkalyd, enamel, etc.). I know from reading previous posts that Skullboy used Krylon extensively and then covered it with Excel Colour Vision Crystal Clear Matte so I had hoped to walk in his footsteps.

I want to do a desert camo however and I don't think Krylon's four color choices is going to do it. This rifle is close to what I was hoping to achieve although I would prefer to use another shade of tan/khaki/sandstone instead of the brown.

I got a response from Krylon:
Thank you for your inquiry with the Krylon website. We appreciate you
taking the time to contact us.

The old Camouflage line has been discontinued and replaced with the Fusion,
and these colors don't match the old ones exactly. Some of the old colors
can still be ordered online here while supplies last:

I asked the Krylon folks if their satin finish colors were the next best thing to the ultra flat camouflage paints and what product lines carried the satin finish:

IMO, some of the more interesting satin finish colors are (note this isn't a complete list - just the ones I like for the purpose of camo):

Fusion for Plastic (Home Satin Collection)
Satin Almond - 2437 *

You can view color samples by following the links quoted above. The ones I marked with an asterix are the colors that I'm most interested in experimenting with.

why do you want the fusion stuff?
the fusion is designed to bond with whatever type of vinyl regular lawn furniture is made of. it does not bond with any synthetic stock material ive tried it with - in fact its adhesion and durability on surfaces it does not bond with is highly inferior to the regular matte camo krylon. properly sanded, prepped and degreased it will not stick to synthetic stocks - 2 weeks later you can peel it off with your fingernail.
 
Thanks for the info manbearpig. I wanted to stay with the Krylon paints but I wasn't deliberately targetting the fusion paint line. The only Krylon Camo paints being offered today come "with fusion technology". To make matter worse, the "Camo" paints are only available in four colors so I branched out into Krylon lines which offered a satin finish hoping to find more colors. That put me back into the Fusion paints which you're saying isn't a good thing.

Somebody else mentioned spraying everything (provided it isn't tolerance sensitive) with Rustoleum Texture paint as a base primer. Then throw on the Krylon colors and finally cover everything with a clear matte. I think I'm going to give that combination a scratch test and see for myself.
 
they dont all come with the fusion technology.
just the other day i picked up their tan, brown, green, and black in the regular stuff.

the fusion stuff is garbage. i guess its OK for breathing new life into lawn chairs, but for the money you spend on the paint you can just buy new plastic lawn chairs, LOL. wood is better anyway.

i used to work in a body shop so believe me if anything, i OVER-prep surfaces. i tried painting both an ATI and a Savage/Stevens synthetic stock with the fusion paint and its adhesion was pathetic. a week and a half later i could peel it right off in ragged rubbery flakes. i completely broke the surface of the entire stock and thoroughly degreased it yet still this happened.

i ended up stripping both stocks. it was easier than i feared, i squirted from a bottle of acetone nailpolish remover over the stock and the paint wrinkled and peeled off in nice big sheets. after that i just had to do some sanding to remove some smudges.

i redid the stock in the classic, non-fusion Krylon and adhesion/durability was far superior. i can no longer strip it with my fingernail. if i scratch hard i can still scrape some off but this is always the case with spraypaint.

perhaps the primer + fusion paint is a solution. i would recommend that you try it on a small area or on some other similar material first, so that you can test what the final finish will be like. spending the time to prep and paint a stock only to have to re-strip the entire thing is a huge pain in the ass. if you consider the amount of time i wasted because of the krylon fusion paint i could have ordered a mcmillan instead.
