Hey Guys...

Want to Krylon an entire gun...

Can I spray the Krylon directly onto the gun or do I need to use primer first ??

Is Krylon available here in Canada ??

Also what is a good to degrease with ?

Krylon is available at Canadian Tire, it is a plastic paint(at least the stuff I have) and works OK on synthetic stocks, don't know about metalwork and couldn't bring myself to paint decent barrel/action anyways. If I was to paint one that was in rough shape I would use some type of high temp metal paint, and I would prep with a scotch brite pad beforehand. Scotch Briteing the stock wouldn't hurt either.

Hey

Scradster..

Just an older beater Caesar Guerini O/U..

The Krylon I have here said is can be used on wood, plastic, metal

BTW..

Gun is just a beater truck 870.. :)

Will have to do more research on it...

Thanks

I have painted my 870 and Grizzly with Krylon. Lightly sanded all the metal with 120 & 220 grit sand paper. Put on gloves, sprayed everything with break cleaner, wiped down and hang part, let dry completely and paint. Multiple thin coats work best.

I have a 303 enfield sporter that I completely customized into a scope wearing , picatinny rail havin, bull barrelled sniper look alike and the entire rifle, stock action barrel and optics are all camo with Krylon using cedar bough as stencil material, all done free hand.
this is a crappy pic but if you save it and zoom in .... she's a sweet lookin rig.
I used 3 light coats of Rona matte clear laquer on top. 2 coats of krylon grey primer underneath. the camo goes on fairly thin sothe whole job does not gum up the rifle with thick layers of paint.
let it cure for several days in a warm environment before approaching it with any lubricants or cleaning products. Mine has been through one hard season of hunting, many trips to the range, and the paint job is holding up just fine.
Plus if you use a natural vegetation as a stencil, it is easy to touch up any area of the finish that does wear off.

Look for Krylon Camo Systems Paint. I used to get it at my local Cambodian Tire.................

Surface prep is the key......................degrease (I used Isophropyl Alcohol and TSP cleaner...), scuff surfaces to be painted (A scotch brite pad will do), masks off areas not to be painted...............final degrease..........use a decent primer or a good adhesion promoter....................light coats work better the heavy coats...............light wet sand inbetween coats...............use a Matte clear for protection.

I have painted MANY firearms with Krylon paint and have had no complaints..................;).....................my Custom built AI-700 Sniper rig was painted with Krylon and it has held up for over 5 years now..............:D
