MAC complains about the company to no end. Pretty sure he picks fights with their customer service staff too. But its undeniable that he's not the only one who's had issues with their guns.

Kel-tec has the unenviable position of producing and designing extremely desirable products, but are hindered by limited manufacturing and the potential for unfortunate warranty issues because well . . . their gun's aren't built like anyone elses!

I think all their guns provide a great Canadian option. But they certainly do elicit strong, polarizing opinions in the US.
 
I personally don't think that MAC is as biased against keltec products as he has purchased them for reviewing and you can see the problems he is having. Although some of the issues he's having could be changed by better ammunition I believe.

As for his RFB problem with steel cased ammo in the manual they specifically say not to use steel cased ammo. But I still believe that your rifle should function with any (properly sized) ammunition
 
My KSG (gen 1) forearm is cracked but still cycles ammo without issue. I am waiting for a replacement but still shooting until it gets here. I love this shotgun and last weekend put a case of federal aluminum #8 to see if I could break the forearm until it wouldn't work as well as see what the concerns were with low aluminum hulls. Not one issue other than wanting a limb saver for my shoulder. I have another 2 cases waiting to go. I also want another KSG now because I do love this shotgun that much.

I use Hornady Steel match in my RFB without issue as well as MFS steel cased rounds without issues. The rifle is stiff new a bit picky at first but once you break it in it works great.
 
To me I think most of MAC's issues were caused by him not racking the gun hard enough. You can see on many of the reloads he had trouble with he racked the pump slowly or didn't slam it back to release the next shell from the tube.
With my KSG you definitely need to rack it hard or it only ejects the empty and doesn't release the next shell.

I also watched his RFB videos where he had problems and to me it didn't sound like he understands how the gas system works and therefore doesn't understand how to adjust it correctly.


sapper043, What type of vertical grip were you using?
 
I was using the magpul XTM grip/hand stop. It seems to work very well on the forearm. No AFG or vertical but the forearm still broke on the left side where the feed bar connects.

Still cycles perfectly so far. I have 2 cases of shells to try and see how many more rounds it will take to not cycle.
 
Had mine out yesterday, worked great and was very impressed with the accuracy using rifled slugs. I tried a vertical grip for a while and really liked the feel when racking the slide. I may look around for the shorter Magpul grip that is supposed to fit well.
Bought the Zombie pack of 200 rounds (100 reduced recoil rifled slugs and 100 00 buck) for $200 from a shop on the East side of Edmonton (50st on the way to Sherwood Park ;)) and am very impressed with the slugs.
Love my new toy :)
