In light of recent posts regarding the quality and customer service behind Sightron scopes I offer up a recent personal experience.
Last year I jumped into the discipline of F Class shooting. After buying a Sightron Slll 8-32X56 FCH and using it on my first rifle. I was impressed enough to pick up a second one, used, off the EE for use on a second rifle.
The second scope ended up having the reticle rotated slightly to the body of the scope. If the reticle was plumb and level the scope turrets were rotated a couple of degrees to the right.
I used this scope for the remainder of the season, and it tracked true out to 600m which was the farthest I used it. At the end of the season I contacted Sightron USA, as even though the scope functioned O.K., the fact that the scope had to be mounted slightly askew really bothered me. Sightron told me to contact the Canadian distributor (Hirsch Precision) for any warranty concerns I had.
Sightron obviously had copied Hirsch Precision on our correspondence, as THEY contacted ME first. I was told to forward the scope to them, and they would take care of my concerns.
The scope was sent off to Hirsch who promptly sent it back to Sightron for service. Once Sightron USA had received and evaluated the scope I learned that upon inspection the internals contained some glue that was not of Sightron origin, there was some anodizing worn off the inside, and there was a part missing,...... someone had opened up and messed with the internals of this scope.
The hopes I had of having my scope repaired at no cost to me were fading fast, and I was told by Peter Dobson (of Hirsch Precision) that the final call would be by Sightron USA, but he would back me as much as he possibly could.
Within a week or two I had my answer. Sightron was not just fixing my scope but replacing it with a brand new one! As advertised a BNIB Sightron Slll 8-32X56 FCH arrived in the mail last Friday. The cost to me was return shipping, and even this would have been waived had I purchased from an authorized Sightron Canada outlet rather than off the EE.
So, I offer up my thanks to both Peter Dobson of Hirsch Precision and Sightron USA. Peter was top notch to deal with, open, honest, and available. Any questions/correspondence were answered in a very timely manner. Sightron USA ultimately stood behind their product, even though the problem was not one of their origin. I would have no problems whatsoever in purchasing another Sightron product as I am very happy with the scope's themselves and extremely pleased with the recources backing them.
Thank you Peter, Thank you Sightron.
