Kwik Klip - Rem700

Although Kwik Klip only made it for the long action for about 30 years they now make it for the short action as well. I saw one last year.
 
While I am not particularly enamored with detachable magazines in CF Rifles,
the Kwik-Klip is definitely not my favorite.

The installation of a Kwik-Klip conversion forces one to shorten the COL of a loaded
round considerably to fit in the magazine.

The SA Remington is already only 2.8" long.
So with the installation of the Kwik-Klip, it is closer to 2.5" - A very long jump to the lands.

Same applies to the LA Remmy. The original drop plate or a DM from the factory allows about 3.68"
The Kwick-Klip shortens that a substantial amount.

Most factory Remmys have long throats, so the Kwick-Klip
conversion makes it a long jump to the lands in the LA as well.

But, whatever floats your boat!

Eagleye is correct, I found out the hard way.
Several years ago I bought an almost new 700 Classic in 35 Whelen at an estate sale with the Kwick-Klip conversion.
The rifle was a tackdriver when bullets were seated out, trouble is they wouldn't fit the mag, and when they did the exact same load was all over the paper.
Eventually I found all the proper floor plate / trigger guard bits and pieces to convert it back and all was well.
I did find that Kwick-Klip sets sell well on a gun show table...

Although you would need the right cut out on your stock. I would go factory DM, Dave at Jennings Out Doors will order it for you. Not sure if that works for you but just a sugestion.

Yes they make it for a SA and LA

Im looking for LA 30-06.

I dont see how the magazine would make it less accurate? once your cartridge is chambered its going down the same pipe.


I would consider factory, depending on the cost.

I got a really good deal on this rifle and don't want to spend much converting it.

You obviously don't reload.

The best accuracy is usually obtained when the bullet is seated close to the rifling... usually the less jump the bullet has to go to engage the rifling, the better...

So if the magazine limits the overall length of the loaded round, it can affect accuracy...

If you are shooting factory ammo it makes no difference to you.

I built my 7mm 08 on a long action using a Kwik Klip so length would not be a problem with reloads.

I have a Remington 700 35 whelan too. Now I have to decide how badly I want convenience of a removable magazine. It is really accurate as is, and I don't want to mess this up. Is the above post referring to ordering Remington factory parts to install removable magazine?
