Hey CGN! Hope you all enjoyed the long weekend and got back into the swing of things with relative ease.
I have a stripped bolt on my KPA rail that is now stuck on my classic green rifle.
I bought the rail off the EE and my google-fu is not very strong to find any contact information for Kyle Percision Arms to see about a replacement bolt.
Anyone know if they are still around? Would you be so kind as to provide a way to contact them?
Thanks
Joel

Tits up a long time ago. If he's still around selling stuff, its news to me. Maybe he'll finally pay me?

Are you talking the bolt that screws out the back to push the base onto the front wedge? What is stripped, the threads?

I'll help you out if I can. I built all the Kyle Precision product.

Ah ha! That's sort of what Google was leading me to believe…
Well thanks for chiming in Mar well thanks for chiming in. You are correct; it's the tension bolt that holds the rail off the rear diopter site onto the rifle. The hexagonal head is what stripped. Although it doesn't harm anything being securely fastened to the rifle, I wanted the novelty of being able to take it off, this needing a new bolt...
I would gladly pay for a new one and I can probably cut the old one off.
If you wouldn't mind doing the work to make me a new one, shoot me a PM.
Thanks
Joel

The tensioning screw was specifically made from a relatively soft metal as a weak point to fail so as not to strip the threads. Previous Swiss Arms rails suffered from the threads in the bases stripping out, ruining the entire base.

You should be able to remove the screw with vise grips. Keep in mind there are two locking set screws on either side that must be backed off. These screws can also be used to adjusted the windage of the base if required. Rounding of the hex was never considered as a possible issue. I guess the design put too much faith in the mechanical abilities of gun owners. :)

Personally, I'd leave it on there.

If memory serves me correctly, it's a 5/16 hex, 1/4-28 thread. I can possibly make up a replacement but can't get into the shop until harvest is done.

-you're right canucklehead. It's not hurting anything as is, just want the novelty is all. 8) all the cool kids can take theirs off, I wanna play too! Lol

-good luck with harvest season. We had a big bad dry spell in my part of Ontario. Barely a second cut of hay for some of the locals.
If it's ok with you, Armedsask I will heed your suggestion and keep you in mind.
Thanks for confirming what I thought.

Armedsask, have respect for your skills. I really liked the quality of the KPA stuff back when it was available. If you are ever in PA stop by Arnie's Guns and introduce yourself to me! (Phil)

Thanks for that. At the very least, I can be proud that I didn't put out a substandard product. Pride in my work is why I still try to provide some after sales support.
