Kyle Rittenhouse rifle destroyed by Wisconsin State Crime Lab

What purpose does this serve again? Also, didn't he get acquitted on all counts?

Destroying a peice of history, denying Rittenhouse and the American public the value of the item as well as the opportunity to use the item for public and personal gain, and generally, a despicable and spiteful display of vengeance against a person who was convicted by the Court of Public opinion but acquitted by a Court of Justice.

...Seems legit, shred away gents.

How does a crime lab have rights to "evidence" that was not criminally used though, by the courts own admission?!

That video is heart breaking. I'm sure the lab techs destroy evidence guns all day. Making a publicity stunt out of it by inviting the news and broadcasting it is just beyond the pale.

And I have no respect for anyone who takes anything positive from this brazen crime.

That gun is a piece of American History. The gun that shot Lincoln is in the Smithsonian FFS.

So I just googled this, and apparently, Kyle Rittenhouse himself wanted the Firearm destroyed. This makes me sad and less mad at the Police. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-60180296

Kyle should not only sue those virtue signalling clowns for the rifle, but also for the loss of any potential windfall, as something tells me that lot of people would pay good money for this piece of history, had he decided to auction it off at some point.
Now he obviously does not have that option anymore.

I mean a rifle that was used to dispatch a pedophile, felon and a wife beater would make a great addition piece to anyone's collection...

I say "Kyle Shredded Rifle" should go right beside the Lincoln gun.
It would give future Americans a reminder of how Woke they were in 21 century.
Of coarse that's if there is a Smithsonian in the future.

I'm guessing his decision of not wanting it back was based on the shear magnitude of this whole debacle, what it has had on his life, and wanting to put it and any items associated with it, behind him.

I wish him well on his journey to do just that, and if it means chopping up a rifle, such is life.

There will be a Smithsonian. The question is if there is anything left in it.

You could put the rittenhouse rifle shreds in the smithsonian and it wouldn't be long before someone wanted to shred the lincoln gun too. Then some artist no one has heard of could be commissioned ungodly sums of money to turn the shreds into a modern art piece that no one could comprehend before being purchased at auction by some wall street trader with too much money on their hands who would promptly lose it to some trust fund baby in a high stakes meth fueled eye poking contest, before its lost to the sands of time entirely.

And thus, American history is erased little by little, until the soil is ripe for the Triumph of Gilead.

This crap has always bothered me. Just like buildings where crimes were committed. These are all inanimate objects yet people have some sort of need to personify them like they possess some sort of spirit. The fact that the "justice" system not only supports this mindset but in many cases promotes it scares the hell out of me. If courts can demand that objects be destroyed as some sort of benefit to the public safety we are a breath away from witch trials and trials by ordeal. "WINTER IS COMING"

I share your sentiment, fine piece of kit there and indeed historic to boot. I can understand why Kyle (never wanting to hurt anyone) would want the thing gone, kid must be broken up inside - no fault of his own.

This kid went looking for a fight and found one. Just because he happened to kill some ####-rats doesn't make him a hero. The jury made the right call, but as a responsible gun owner I'd prefer to distance myself very far away from praising idiots like Kyle Rittenhouse. I love my guns, but not because they make me feel like some tough guy tactifool wannabe. YMMV
