L1A1 prohib?

yes of course. All the FN FAL family are prohibs. I own a L1A1 and a C1A1, and they are 12(5) status. Of course that does not make sense. The C1A1 of all of guns of the 12(5) family of prohibs should be made available to anyone that has a PAL or at least a RPAL. A true shame that the majority of Canadians are denied owning a bit of Canadian military history.

I am surprised there was never a serious movement within the firearms community to change the status of this very collectable gun.

Correct me if i'm wrong but i believe it was Kim Campbell a conservative that banned the FN. Don't get me wrong i am no liberal but politicians are politicians.

Yep, it was Gimme Kimmee. Her group came up with that hugh list of over 500 rifles and variants that were deemed too dangerous to be in the hands of mere mortals.
 
Ok so I thought I would weigh in on this one. I thought that the list that put the fns and other weapons on the prohib list was done by "order in counsel" and never went through traditional debate in the house as a traditional bill. Would it be too naive to suggest why doesn't some one "order in counsel" it off the list ?? just a thought

I thought the same thing, mostly because I am totally enthralled by the FN, and the mystique around it. Legendary does not begin to describe it.
 
Anyone that thinks Kim Campbell was/is a conservative needs to smack their own head against the closest brick wall.
 
Please forgive me as I have very little knowledge of these orders in Counsel. What would it take to get an order reversed? Is this something that we can ask Stevie Harper to do for us? Make the FN restricted(non would be pushing I think) how hard would it be for him to do this?
 
Doesn't the government work for the people ? How many people would it take to have some of the current classifications in the C.C. reversed/revised ? 1/4, 1/3, 1/2+1 of canadas population ?
Their classification, in my opinion, was the usual knee jerk reaction to the squeeky wheel "the special intrest groups" and the usual way the parties keep power.
 
I think they were restricted beacause of a flood of cheap L1a1's from Australia came in...and the safety sear made even the semi-auto easy to made to fire safe full auto. This was before kim Campbell.
