L42A1 export question

Yes. I would use a licensed gun dealer to ensure dots, i's and crosses are done properly. I cannot see why a British made rifle would be covered by ITARS or any difficult regulations.

As long as export permits are in order, you shouldn't have a problem - someone like Irunguns, or Prophet River does this type of thing regularly. It would be more of an issue if it was on the restricted export list, but it isn't - to the US Gov, it's just an old 308 bolt gun.

BTW I am positively green with envy, and request - no, make that DEMAND a range report.

ETA - also the production date (Second World War) would make it C&R in the US.

An L42A1 is made out of a No.4 action, but lots of No.4 actions were made post WWII and all L42s were made well after WWII. If WWII production dates matter to the export of that rifle, it's not a WWII rifle.

Seems to me Brian #### from BDL was talking about export from the u.s.a. of L42s over on the milsurps forum. He did have a little trouble if I recall, and I don't remember the outcome. You might want to check over there or call him at BDLtd.

I tried buying one from BDL a few months ago and according to Brian, as they were in common military service thru the 80's and early 90's with many countries and it is a "sniper rifle" in .308 , the US Directorate of Defence Trade Controls (DDTC) will not allow export as per ITAR rules
