A real L85 would be prohibited based on the fact it would either be a full auto or a converted auto. No civilian L85s were ever manufactured to my knowledge.

This new product, provided a barrel length of over 18.5", ought to be non-restricted.

They are a quality company actually, all the major building sites south of the border use prexis receivers, and most members have a membership at their forum . Many of the builds you see on the internet were developed by forum members there.

Wonder what their P7's or P9's would be classed?

...wouldn't help us as I doubt a) The yanks would alow its export, and b) our lot would let it be imported.

I too would like a semi version just for the history, even if it was a P.O.S "not A2" version.

I do beleive that a version of the hand cranked cadet model with the LSW barrel and bipod was developed for civilian sale for rifle association style competition but I don't know if any were actually sold.

Actually, all someone has to do is make an L85 style lower receiver and hand guard then slap on an AR180B upper. They are very similar.

The manufacturer is not licenced for, and will not, export these parts. Or any of the other parts he produces.

The receiver is not rocket science. Best thing to do is to buy a whole whack of the warstock and strip them for parts.

That said, I seem to recall a few real SA L85 actually made their way into Canada in the 90's.

I was told that they tend to make very expensive pre-orders and never get the product shipped, or something to that extent.

If it's bull####, I'll edit it out of my post.
