Labradar with muzzleloader

Hi everyone,

Im toying again with the idea of purchasing a Labradar chronograph to use with my muzzleloaders - primarily patched round balls.

Im wondering if anyone has any first hand experience with the chronograph and how it handles the smoke of real black powder and if capturing the velocity ball vs patch is an issue.

Any insight would be appreciated

I don't own one but have talked with a few people using them for black powder cartridge rifles and they were all happy. Apparently now and then the radar will catch wads instead of bullets, but I think itd be pretty obvious when that happens.

I use a LABRADAR all the time for ML and BPCRs. Use it in the Handgun Velocity Range.... You will also want to select a long time out between shots so that you have enough time to reload etc before it times out and you have to reset again.

Labradar with muzzleloader

I got mine to work with both muzzleloader rifle and pistol as well as black powder cartridge. As MC suggests you must use the handgun setting.....I ended up with one of the infamous Labradars which were almost impossible to aim correctly for what ever reason.....I ended up buying a mount and putting on an inexpensive red dot sight in order to use it.. Sat under my bench for almost two years I was so disgusted with it .Sights so easy now it makes me cringe on what I may have missed in the initial set up .I also bought a $3.00 sensor and radio cable and made a recoil sensitive trigger for the system as well. I set my cartridge gun up pretty close at 6 inches and the unit was partially blackened but no harm done. expect I will try a farther setting or use the recoil sensor...... I hated the thing before but I am glad I have it now that it is working !!!!! Mine will not work at all with the barrel even with the housing as they suggest ....I must be rear of the unit which may have been the problem all along following the directions to a 'T".I suggest buying the gimbal mount as well,
Princess auto puts hard cases on sale which will fit the rig very well too. If I had bought the insurance policy I am sure I would have shot mine out of disgust .......[before I got it to work]
