I'm looking for a pair of GI leather lace on cheek pieces. Who stocks them in Canada?

Shot one of my Springfield 'Danish' Garands last Sunday in the club's 1st 'Hunter's Match' of the year. People laughed when I hauled out the Garoon - "Hey, you gonna save Pte. Ryan?"
After the first relay they weren't laughing.....

I also shot a Remington 788 with fixed 4x in the scoped category and won there, but shot better overall with the Garand. There was everything in the match from a .223 to .300 Magnoons with big variable scopes.
There's a lesson in all of that....like use of a sling and shooting from the military sitting position.

Ammo was PMC factory ball and Winchester 150 gr Power Point from Wal Mart.

Lace on GI cheekpiece

I think putting Lace on your GI cheekpiece would look kinda girly... :D

My grandmother has lots to spare but wouldn't the recoil transfer the knitting pattern to your face?

The scope on a Gair-RUND is not on the centreline, and the cheekpad is an offset with a 1/2" of felt in a pocket. If you put one on your iron sights rifle, your eyeball will be out of line.

I found the sniper GUUH-rand is just about the worst ergonomic fitting rifle I have ever fired. I had to struggle to keep the cross hairs flat.

(go ahead, which pronounciation is correct?)

If you want leather removable easy and sizable, try CheeknStock.
Do a google searth and they should pop up.

cheek pads

Thanks one and all!

I don't intend to scope either of my Garands. They shoot well enough as is.
When I can beat scoped bolt action rifles in score out to 200 yards in timed fire, I'm happy.
As far as ammo goes, I spent weeks one winter trying to duplicate or beat what I was getting with PMC factory ball. I used two different powders, four bullet types - and quit!
Same for my .308 hunting rifles. For that I bought the Redding comp die and couldn't beat what I was getting out of silver box Winchester 150 PSP from WalMart - sub 1" groups from a 788 and slightly larger with a Husky. Outshot all the premium brands by far, including the 'Light Magnum' stuff.

The Garand sniper set up is not only odd looking, but ergonomically awkward, as someone said. I read that the rifles so set up were not even selected for accuracy.
A semi-auto battle rifle that kicks it's nice shiny brass all over the landscape never quite made sense to me, but the armies of the world thought otherwise.

PS: T'ain't nothin' 'girly' 'bout a Garand in any configuration!

the lace he's referring to is really a piece of RAWHIDE- that binds the sides of the cheekpiece together- and it's not really olace- on, but more like lace tightened- the real thing is anchored with brass screws in the stock in two places- i've got a couple of 52 issue- DO NOT PUT THE GARAND CHEEKPICE ON THE M14/M1A/M305 as it's intended for that offset scope mount - you guys that are lefties are ok as you don't use it for the cheekweld anyway
