Lack of interest in the .380 ACP

Yes. Find me some .380's that have barrels longer than 4 inches. Not too common. And its a shortned slightly weak 9mm that costs more than reg 9mm. You can get makarov's in canada in .380 from a few of our sponsors. Alot of people are opting for the russian 9x18 because it is similar dimensions and packs a bigger punch.

Most likely because almost all 380 (and 32) calibre guns are prohibs, so most of the people on this site don't/can't have them. Not much point talking about guns you don't have.
+1, I would love to have one but the powers that be say it would turn me into a kitten killing monster.

A lot of folks who missed out on 12(6) are kicking themselves and the 'newbies' really got the shaft. They have to content themselves with longer barreled guns in heavier calibres.
'Big Brother' discounted the fact that millions of such guns were issued by European armies since the Arch Duke took a hit in the Balkans and right through WW II.
My experience with a .380 is limited to one mag through a Browning and a Beretta. Both had a lot of 'bark' for the 'bite'. I did once own a Mauser HsC that came with original holster and spare mag. Nice gun, but definitely anaemic. Still better than no gun at all. A compact 9mm or Commander in 9mm would be a better choice for most.
The current 'Handloader' magazine has an article on the Colt .380 Mustang. There is a resurgence of interest in the .32s and .380s in the US of A with more people qualifying for CCW.

I also have a 39, but I like the 380's. I have a Colt 1903 and a Walther PPK in this chambering, both fun to shoot. Doesn't cost me anymore to reload then my 9mm's do. - dan

A .380 makarov is a great pistol for my wife as she isn't big on recoil but I don't want a girly .22 rimfire pistol in my safe

And there are a lot of newer compact pistols in 9mm that are not much larger than a vintage one in .380 Auto.

They're not all war relics. There are the Beretta 84's and cheetahs, and I have a Browning BDA which I just love, (it's modern and double stack) and the 380 is extremely popular in the sates, although not as a primary. It wouldn't be my first choice to carry, but fill it with Gold Dots and I wouldn't be worried carrying one. The biggest downside is price of shells and that I don't really shoot it enough to justify reloading, although I am still looking for a PP and if I get one of those Makarovs I may re think that
