I fired 14 rounds of .308 win 168gr AMAX starting at 43gr Varget increasing the powder all the way up to 46gr. The node appears to be just under 45gr. I was quite happy with the group as target was 249 yards away.

So you just went with more powder until you saw it cluster together, right? How did you now which load clustered "better" since they're all going into the same hole almost?

BTW, I take it that black dot is about 2"?

The loads were all different as follows 43, 43.2, 43.4, 43.6, 43.8, 44.1, 44.4, 44.7, 45, 45.2, 45.4, 45.6, 45.8, 46 The ones that clustered dead center were from 44.4 to 45.2 the top one was 46. The two furthest apart measure 2.75" center to center. The dot is 1 inch.

Very nice looking node. I think what Id do at this point is move the target out to 300 to get a little more dispersion so you can tell exactly what its doing. That rifle is to accurate for testing at that distance. I have the same problem with my 300WM. Testing at 200yds has some high, some low and a mess in the middle.
