My wife just bought a nice little Lake Field Mark 1 today and I'm just curious to see if anyone knows any history about the company or their guns.

The Lakefields were made in Canada in Coburg Ontario by a company started by Cooey, sold to Winchester , then Lakefield -Mossberg. They made many models and most noteworthy are the Mark I single bolt, Mark II repeater bolt and Mark III semi auto. I have all 3 models and love to shoot them all. Very accurate rifles.

Lakefield Arms in Lakefield Ontario was sold to a holding company of Savage in the mid 1990's. It continues to make rimfires based on the Lakefield design today, which are sold under the Savage name. I believe all Savage rimfires come from this plant. Here is a bit of history. It starts with a report on a plant pot luck dinner, but toward the end gives an account of the history.
