hey i am new and looking for some help :)
i recently had a lakefield that was given (registered) to me by a relative. said he hadnt fired it in quite some time but it was working. this is my first rimfire btw.
took it out yesterday after a few months in the safe and i am wondering if it was the ammo or the rifle.
whats happening is some rounds would not fire on first attempt. there is an indent on the rim from the first attempt. i would eject it and load it again and sometimes it would fire and sometimes it would take several more attempts before it would fire with the same bullet.
i also would not eject the round and just partially bring back the bolt so as to keep the bullet in the exact same position. same result it would fire after several attempts.
Is it worth fixing? Should I bring it to a gunsmith? Is it the bullets? they are winchester 36 grain rimfire plated hollow points.
thanks for the help.

I recall it was bitter cold yesterday, were you shooting outdoors? Likely its old crud/lube/crap gumming up the works. Detail clean, but lube very lightly for winter operations.

I will give it a detail cleaning and try with the same ammo. I will also try with other ammo.
it wasnt too cold, around +2

Thanks for the help guys. i will let u know how it turns out

Soak the bolt overnight in varsol and blow it out good with brake cleaner, oil lightly and be sure the firing pin is not broken, that can cause the problem also. Had it ...been there...
