Lakefield 22 worn firing pin

I have a posting on the EE, just curious is it possible to buy a new one in Canada? or good used one. I suppose welding and filing to spec would not work? Issue I have is the firing pin in my lakefield mkII is worn to the point it light strikes most shots.

Yes get a welder to tig weld a dab on the end and file . Worked on mine

Thanks guys. Pin is definitely worn, there is a dent the shape of a 22 rim Not sure how many rounds the old rifle fired off but there is definitely some miles on it.

You gave good advise and based on my ignorance I assumed the dent was a worn pin. Nope, the new firing pin is identical.

Any other suggestions what might cause light strikes. I will clean the bolt again but other than some light oil visible the thing has no sluge build up etc. Spring perhaps?

Look for an indent at the end of the chamber where the firing pin would strike if someone did a lot of dry firing (no cartridge in the chamber) with it. With the proper tool a chamber dent can be "ironed" pretty much back to level and it should work again. Dry firing rim fire rifles is not advised. Extraction problems can also arise from this as the dented end of the barrel chamber is displaced into the chamber side. Or the bolt may require a thorough cleaning to speed up the impact of the pin.
