I have a lakefield mark 2 22 cal gun and i was wondering what would be the best scope to put on it for small game hunting?

Probably a fixed 2.5 to 4x power scope. I have one of each on my Lakefield single shots.

I can shoot the primers out of shotgun shells at 25 yards, using Federal bulk ammo and a rest, with both rifles. I find the wide field of view with low power scopes is better for hunting.

Or, you can buy a Bushnell 3x9x .22 scope for $60-70 dollars, maybe cheaper, if you shop around.

My lakefield Mark I, Mark II and Mark III all wear 3x9x scopes. Much better for small game shooting. I shoot gophers in the fields out to 150 yards with them and use my Marlin 81 for out to 200 as it has a 24" barrel. I found that the smaller power scopes did not do the job for longer shooting. I do not shoot targets less than 75- 100 yards.
