Lakefield mark II firing issues

Ok so here's my problem in a nutshell, I've got a lakefield mark II repeater, the gun will occasionally fire but rarely, the ejected unfired rounds have very slight markings from the firing pin striking, but not enough to set it off. Suggestions on how to repair this? Bolt is clean and well lubed and works smoothly. Maybe file down the pin sharper? Or slightly drill out the opening for the pin?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Is the bolt closing completely? sounds like its not in full battery so it doesnt catch the extractor and its not far enough in to be able to hit the firing pin.
 
Does the end of the pin or the edge of the chamber look all dinged up? Need a new pin or the spring is weakened somehow is my guess...

I had a K98 that did that when I changed the stock and safety out, took me hours to figure out the handle was touching the new stock. Stripped the bolt down a bunch of times trying to figure out what I possibly could have done wrong...a quick touch with the Dremel and a dab of gun stock oil fixed it up in a few moments in the end.
 
It is an old gun, and from what I can tell the firing pin free floats inside the bolt housing. It engages the round securely, and connects on the primer. Working the bolt out of the gun shows that everything is intact and in good working condition but... This is a friends gun who doesn't know much about firearms so im assuming he dry fired the hell out of it. It seems to me the pin is too short to fully connect.
 
That sounds like he needs a replacement firing pin, and it should work after that, they get worn down after a few hundred thousand rounds and years.
 
Sounds like a lake field from the 70's parts are not available this was a inherant problem we sold them in our shop and new out of the box guns would have this issue . U won't put 100's of thousands of rpunds through a mk 11 lake field they were also known for extractor problems . the actual problem is the headspaceingthe bolt face is to far away from the face of the bbl
