So I found this old thread that mostly confirms that the older Lakefield Mk.II and the pre-accutrigger Savage Mk.II's are the same thing.

I have been looking for a Savage Mk.II action for a project where I plan to fit a shortish Shilen 77/22 barrel into the Mk.II receiver to make a budget benchrest/silhouette/tackdriver. The info I am working from is off this thread on Rimfire Central:

I have had no luck finding a Savage action, but have been offered one from a Lakefield. So, the $64,000 question is - does anyone know if the receiver/barrel fitment and sizes are the same for the old Lakefield actions as for the newer Savages?

Thanks,
Mark

The thread on rimfirecentral is the only place I have ever seen someone take the barrel of of a savage rimfire.
If I was serious about a project like this I'd probaly buy the lakefield action if it was cheap enough and measure it. Probably the quickest way for you to find that info.

Also, please post a lot of pics:cheers: My mk2fv is my favorite rimfire ever.
