Hey folks,

Background: It has been over a year now since the dead began to walk. Life is chaotic and everything is scrounged or stolen. As a new day begins, I check my ammo reserve...damn, I am running low on supplies and ammo again. Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I see movement and immediately think..."not again!"...

The Bonnyville Shooting And Sports Association is hosting a "zombie" shoot on August 06, 2016. Rimfire, pistol, cowboy and carbine (223) ammo strongly recommended as there will be a large number of ammo used - it is recommended that shooters utilize at least two firearms during each stage, but not mandatory. It will only add to the challenge, fun and excitement as scoring is not based on speed of the shooter. No shotguns will be permitted as they will give a distinct advantage to a shooter.

Each stage will require anywhere from 35 to 55 shots/targets. The targets themselves will be reactive in nature (clays) and will sway for added realism and adventure. Scoring will be hits vs total shots, it is not a timed event, but shooters will advance through each course based on a time clock - as the dead always advance slow and steady. There will be tasks to complete as well in some stages; ie. pick up and deliver a pill bottle, rescue "good guys", and "find" ammo. The event stages will incorporate elements from the TV show and video games, including surviving an oncoming herd.

Strict safety rules will be in force, but participants are encouraged to dress to a TV character or "survivor" theme.

For information, call Gene at (780)573-1884 or email at sobole@telus.net for more information and to register. Space is limited to 100 shooters. Will you be a survivor or perish?

Going to be fun!! Will essentially be combining elements of CAS and IPSC. With clay targets "heads" that sway in front of zombie pictures, for that added touch. Good degree of difficulty as well, as those targets will not be easy to hit.

man, this sounds like the best thing since repeating firearms. damn, I wish this was closer...

all ya gotta do is hop o plane to Cowtown, then onto Integra Air from there straight here...car rental is cheap, rooms are great (economic slowdown) and then, be part of a real video game! Then tell the grandkids, you had to shoot zombies and go on missions! :)

I'll have to see if I have the time off. I would drive, flying is too expensive. I can't see it happening, but damn, if it is possible, I just might show up. :)

Rimfire and pistol are encouraged as you will be doing a lot of shooting (and missing, which is half the challenge). Large rifle ammunition is discouraged as, for safety, greater distances have to be used to the target. Most of the time, a typical target will be about 15 to 10 yards from the muzzle. "Powder-puff"/subsonic rifle loads (using trailboss powder with lead bullets) will be fine.

In terms of experience, you need to be familiar with the firearms being used. Range officers will be present at all times during a shoot and will be reminding shooters of the rules. Unsafe shooting behavior will not be tolerated and a mandatory safety session will be held a half hour before the shoot.

The targets themselves will wiggle and sway slightly, just like the zombies on TV. Our zombies though, are planted in the ground, so at certain intervals, the shooter moves to them, so to speak. All done in a safe manner. The shooter will only be allowed to shoot from within certain marked areas along the stage, to make it fair for everyone. It is not a timed event, scores are total shots against total targets. most of the time, breaking rules for procedures will cost the shooter a penalty, affecting their total score.

er...no. some elements, not all elements. The elements from left for dead will be "finding" ammo, guns and goodie goals of the stage. Of course, there will be a stage where you will face the "hoard" - better be a good shot too, as this one will be timed to an extent and once you leave the "safe" area, you are on your own...no ammo caches, no weapons to find.

Wow wish my club was this cool. Our president/safety rep would never allow such an event because "zombies" promote firearm use on people. They allow ipsc for the holy anointed, but no zombie targets. Sounds like it will be a good time. Post some pics
