Laminate Stainless Steel Rifle suggestions.

I'm guessing that a Limbsaver or and R3 or Kick-eez or Decelerator would smooth out the feel of the recoil anyway. I think Wholesale has them for about $36.

As far as the rifle goes, pick the one that floats your boat, and don't look back.

This is true, and I'm a believer in the Limbsaver after putting one on my 45/70 G.G.

I just can't find one in stock! Wholesale seems constantly sold out... what else is new. I'll get one eventually, and anyway I'm only #####ing 'cause I like to shoot a lot at the range, and granted the Mtn Rifle wasn't made for that anyways.

FWIW, the new 700LSS comes with one factory installed. That's what the R3 is...

Thanks again for all of the input, the 700's that I looked at did have the R3 pad on them. it did seem nice and soft. I think I am going for the mountain LSS. I will let you guys know once i pick it up.

If TB can show off his 700 MR, I can too ...................

For a light compact laminated stainless gun, the ultimate in my mind is the Ruger Frontier in .300WSM. It has a 16.5 inch barrel which will produce the same velociites as a 30:06 with a normal 24 inch barrel. You get your choice of conventional receiver scope mounting or scout (mid barrel mounting) or both if you set it up properly). Being a Ruger, it is as strong if not stronger than most hunting rifles out there. The only problem is the trigger can be a little heavy and is not adjustable, but that can be fixed up with an aftermarket trigger like a Timney. the recoil is a little more than a .300 mag but not that bad as long as you hold it snug

I have one in blue (stainless didn't come until a year later and i could't wait:D ). It gave me benched 1/2" 5 shot groups with its favorite load.

I love the look of that Mountain LSS with the light brown stock & stainless action. I am hopefully picking mine up tomorrow if I get a chance to get out of the office. i will get some pics up when I get it home. (Says while rubbing my hands together like a toddler on Christmas morning)
