laminated or non laminated

I see that trade ex is out of the non laminated sks. Is there a real diference?
I am guessing that the non laminated were original, and the laminated were part of the referb.
 
earlier models were retrofitted with laminate during refurb and somewhere around '54 they started factory fitting them. There are 2 big differences between the 2: laminate is lighter and a bit stronger and the hardwood is thicker in the grip and butt making it more comfortable to hold and giving a proper cheekweld/sight picture. Most prefer the laminate but I love the original birch hardwood stocks
 
Laminated SKS rifles are possessed by Commie souls says NoBark. Sometimes well your shooting with one you can hear the Communist national anthem. I heard it once myself right after my first shot and I reached for my ear protection to drown out the sound but it just gets louder. After that, for the whole day I heard nothing but the Communist national anthem. Although I must admit, I didn’t know the communist national anthem was just a bunch of ringing sounds.

NoBark thinks they look pretty too.

Well if NoBark thinks they look good, so do I. I just hope if I get laminate that mine doesn't play any Communist tunes. It could distract me and screw up the sub MOA groups, that I know they shoot.
 
Ok i get it. If I wear ear plugs as well as good muffs, I should be OK with a laminated stock. I didn't realize that they were equiped with harmonic, Commie tuning. I wish I hadn't missed the solid stock deal tradex had. I wouldn't need to worry about the anthem
every time I go to the range. As long as i don't have to stand at attention, and salute before firing, I think i'll buy one.

Around '54 they started making SKS with factory laminate, its possible the '53 was this way and there were also brand new rifles fitted with laminate afterwards. Its very possible the rifle is all original. Laminate does not mean refurb
 
Yep, new barrel, stock, unfired in Canada. It's a refurb though. If I do shoot it value won't drop much.
That's the cheap beauty of it. ;)
One thing I never saw before [and I'm no expert on SKS's] is chrome lining inside the gas block and the piston cover has the letters included with serial# EP'd.

I didn't say laminate means refurb. However, '53 Tula can be original only due to some generally unknown production run. Does it mean "very possible"? For example sksboards faq states that they were in limited production only in late '55 and possibly in '56.
 
ended up with a 53 izzy laminate. I hope it plays better than it looks, but it does have a lam stock, so I am guessing that it will drive me nuts with the commie anthum.

Oh thats just the first part. After awhile you will start to see commie ghosts! One time, well i was at the range shooting with my SKS, two people showed up all dressed in hunting camo and they both had SKS rifles. I didn't pay much attention to the fact they had the same gun as me but then the next day when I came back with a different rifle, they were gone! This leads me to believe they were commie ghosts. They were trying to get me to help them in the final battle of Berlin!
 
OK NoBark now your scaring me. Do I realy have to hang out with Ghosts, as well as listen to those sh!tty old tunes. That's it I switching to Vodka.:eek:
