84mmcarl-gustav;
The laminated stocks one sees commercially available are typically a resin impregnated hardwood, I believe birch. As far as I've been able to learn they are laminated in an epoxy matrix under pressure.

That said, I've made two stocks by laminating slabs of walnut together. One was split down the center and one was laminated from 3 pieces for stability.

If I were to start a stock that way again, I would start with a straight grained center core about 1" thick and laminate on two nicer looking outer pieces and go from there. There is a stock maker in Montana that I think does something similar.

As far as what glue to use, one I did with waterproof PVA type wood glue and it's still holding almost 20 years later. That said, today I would use G2 2:1 epoxy from Industrial Formulators who have a pretty good website that lists local Canadian dealers.

Hopefully that was some use to you and good luck with your stock, whichever way you decide.

Regards,
Dwayne

Laminated stock blanks are made just like plywood. Thin layers(about 1/8" thick or less) of assorted hardwoods pressed together with epoxies, under a great deal of pressure. Measured in tons per square inch.
Lee Valley Tools sells assorted veneers and glues. None of which are exactly inexpensive. The veneers on their site are too small for a rifle stock, but they should be able to get whatever you want. http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?cat=1,250&p=43217
