I have a chance to buy a Lampagyar 22 target rifle , its in very good to excellent condition ,their asking $200 would that be a fair price ?

That's funny. Lampagyar literally means light/lamp factory....guess they converted some old factory to make guns.

I did a little searching for you and found a post on rimfirecentral.....( Kispuuska means little gun).

"I actually just very recently corresponded with the fellow who runs the Hungarian Kispuska Training Rifle site on the internet. My rifle has the NV stamping which indicates it was produced in the era from late 1956 to 1959. Apparently, 10,000 were produced in that time period with the " Lampagyar NV Budapest" stamping. By the serial number, mine is from late 1956."

$200.00 is quite fair if in the condition described. There are a few different models of Lampagyars. I had a target rifle at one time that had a very heavy bull barrel and target rifle style stock, much like the Schutz & Larsen rifles. The wood though was a low grade of some type. It also had a provision for a peep sight although it was missing. I never could find one or even find anyone who could tell me what kind of peep sight would have been on it. I now have a Lampagyar rifle in excellent condition that is of the type used in the 1956 uprising. It has much nicer wood than the target rifle had. In fact, the info in the posting above this one (from rimfire central) is about my rifle.

I sold one years ago for 150 to a buddy of mine, it was a heavy barrel and if I recall the rear sight was a toz and slid into a dovetail.
