We put together a little something for the landowners that let us hunt their property last season. It was our first year in the area so we were very thankful to all that allowed it to happen.

NICE TOUCH! Especially if they were not expecting to get something in return. Around here you are more apt to find out who is hunting on your land rather than give someone permission. some guys think they own the country.

Way to go JohnM - I basically duplicate your gifts. Mine are also in a nice presentation baskets, I offer game sausages, jams, cheeses and a bottle of my home made wine. And as some others suggest, never forget something for the ladies. :) I live in Alberta and we own horses, my partners and I attend the brandings of some of the big ranches. We rope, rastle, brand and medicate....heck I've even been in charge of the BBQ and the bar and sing some tunes. Participaction.

That's the ticket to being asked back.:D
My dad does the same thing, brings them venison sausages and some differentcheeses.

Oh, and there was the time he gave one of the farm kids a pair of old Zeiss binoculars I had given him.

Classy thing to do.:)

That's really nice! I usually don't give permission very often, for any one to hunt my property. Last oct., 2 guys came to me for permission to deer hunt on my place.I hunt deer elsewhere, so i told them to go ahead. After they left i thought ,why did i do that. Anyway they shot a decent 6 point, which they called to tell me and said thank you for the hunt. On Dec.23 a knock to my door and here they are with a gift wrapped bottle with a long neck and a poinsettia for my wife. That never happened before, but if they want to hunt again this year they are welcome back.

Very nice. And good suggestion about the Mrs.

For me, I offer my time. (I run grain buggy's, tractors, combines and the like. But the landowner is a cousin). We both win in this situation

It's the thought that counts and the fact that you've taken the time to thank them for extending the courtesy of allowing you on their land means a lot to most people. Good on you!!!!:)
