Land To Hunt Deer Near Petawawa

I am a new hunter in petawawa and am looking for somewhere to hunt deer if you have any land with deer on it not being used by anyone please let me know.

Todd, The best way to obtain hunting land is to go knock on doors & ask for permission. Be prepared for a lot of rejections but just be polite & you will find someone that will allow you to hunt on their land. There is a fair amount of crown land not too far away from you. Petawawa isn't surrounded by Crown land, it's surrounded by Timber company land. There are large areas of crown land, but most of the forestry areas are owned or leased by logging companies. That being said, a lot of people treat this property as if it's crown land anyways.

The Crown Land Use atlas that "Glang1" suggested is a great start, another option that I use to find land is Google Earth. Look for promising areas, then drive around to them and start knocking on doors. In the Pet area most people in the country hunt, so expect to be turned down a lot, but keep asking and you will find a spot eventually. Don't be afraid to extend your search a little. There are a lot of farms out past Pembroke & towards Cobden, and a lot of deer in that area. If you don't mind the drive it can be worth your while.

If you can Tee up with some buddies at work who already hunt that would be your best bet. The type of terrain up there lends itself most to party hunting.
Finally, check out the Barron Canyon rd area. It's crown land, so come November it's swarming with Orange jackets, but if you can get in there beforehand with a bow you can make something happen.
