Lande Tactical 2014

Ya sure I can give you a COF.

Shots will be taken with your rifle from standing, prone and off awkward props (eg, roof top), you will be required to shoot moving targets and in one stage a light jog is required to ramp up heart rate. Shots out to 450 meters with rifle and to 92 meters with pistol. Pistol shots will be taken from standing and is a non-draw non-timed event based on accuracy only. The pistol event is only 10 rounds and is a very small part of this RIFLE shoot.

Logan

Are you serious! You call this a COF? Do you know what a COF is? And why the snide response to 2 guys that spent $140 each to shoot your match?

Another thing. Does this shoot have any special rules? I heard that Serpa holsters are prohibited to use there. I was told I'd receive an email info package. All I got was the 2 sheets you posted. Just want to get all my ducks in a row prior to showing up.
Thanks, Tom.

Wow! What is with guys and this requirement for a CoF. There is a round cound and an equipment requirement posted. I think the point of the event is to show up and adapt to the situation. It is a tactical match. It is an event to test your ability to shoot unkown conditions. Do you want them to label the distances on the targets as well for you? The Lande shoot fills up in hours every year, the fact that we even have a second chance to book a spot you should be jumping at it if you are interested. Not looking to game it up. If you can't enjoy it for what it is, leave it for others who will. If I didn't already have commitments for the 23rd, I would be all over this match, I have been dying to get into a Lande match for a couple years now.

Sick of hearing whiny gamers like you on these threads. Ya I remember you defending the last whiner in another thread.

I'm the furthest thing from a gamer Shane. Explain to me how service rifle/pistol and CQB matches ( which have fully published courses of fire ) are games. All the precision rifle matches I've seen advertised elsewhere have COF. I could care less if they are known or unknown distance targets. I was just curious, that's all since I'm shooting the match and you aren't.

I guess I don't know what a COF is... Sorry man. Nothing snide about what I said, sorry if you we're offended. We can shake hands the day of the shoot. You will not be disappointed in your $120 spent.

Logan
Ok, sorry that I took your reply the wrong way. Here is a sample COF.
Stage 1. Rooftop shooting position. Distance, unknown. Round count, 5. Time 1 min.
Stage 2. Modified prone under vehicle. Distance, 100m. Round count, 5. Time 1 min.
Stage 3. Prone. Distance, 450m. Round count, 1. Time 30 sec
Etc etc. Gives people an idea of what to expect, especially noobs. All the matches I shoot in BC have published COF. It's what competitive shooters ( not 3 gun guys ) are used to. That's the reason more than one person asked for it. Anyways, I hope to have cleared this up a bit, and will have a blast at the match.
Tom.

Thanks Logan, this is a perfect COF for my needs!

the reason I asked, was just incase there was some special things I might want to bring. Moving targets now that sounds fun!! Also, the whole standing thing makes me think to not bring my .260 that weighs in excess of 12 pounds and opt for something lighter.

Schecter 81 the last thing I am is a gamer. Any tactical match I attend I intend to win. (I may not) but I go with the mindset of winning, just remember though this IS a game. Also, I don't want to show up with my laser range finder and be told I can't use it, or my daybag with my shooting rest attached and be told it is not allowed.

Before you quote the load out of the match where it says "NO heavy, large or awkward shooting supports". the line 2 above that line states keep your gear to what a deployed sniper would carry. Well, when our sniper dets deployed on my tour they had rabbit eared bean bags attached to their daybags, laser range finders, kestrel wind meters, and some even carried rice filled shooting socks, also NO sniper deploys without knowing his intended targets and at what range he will be engaging so he knows how to customize his kit for mission success.

The Lande Tactical is an excellent event that challenges its shooters to be well rounded. I've been fortunate enough to shoot this event the past 3 years and look forward to my 4th.

One of the things all competitors seem to enjoy is the mystery of the stages. Some things remain static but ranges, positions, and time may change year to year. As soon as you think you have something figured out, the boys will tweak it on you! This is not a test of your rifle, it is a test of your skills as a marksman.

It has challenged me to learn how to shoot from many different positions and know my dope inside and out. Knowing your cold bore POI might just be an asset as well ;)

The other thing that keeps me coming back is the comradery among the competitors. It's not uncommon to see guys sharing different equipment or sharing thoughts on ranging and distance. Definitely not an IPSC type atmosphere!

Looking forward to seeing everyone there this year!

Cheers,

Dust

Thanks for the insight. Sounds like I need to practice shooting my pistol out to 100m now.

I'll be heading out from Medicine Hat about 9:00 tomorrow morning. That puts me in Drayton Valley around three in the afternoon.

Is anyone meeting the night before or anything like that?

⬆️⬆️This.
Definitely had a blast today. Too bad for the few people who didn't show up, they dreally missed out. Prize table was great so a big thanks to the sponsors and the guys who put this thing together.

Well, I totally sucked and looked like a monkey screwing a football out there! BUT, I had a blast, met some solid people and learned a few things. Hats off to the sponsors and everyone who put this shoot together!! It's not very often that I get to embarrass my self out in public while sober!! Hahaha!

Great match guys, well run as usual! It was challenging enough for the experienced shooters but not so much that entry level guys would get frustrated.
A big thanks to the sponsers as well, I'll be back again next year!
