Hi I have shot surplus combloc ammo for years; The best corrosive and also black powder cleaner has been around for years. Lanolin cut with Kerosine. The stuff I use is I get an aerosol can of "Fliud Film" from C.T. and mix it half and half with Kerosine. This stops the salts of corrosive primers cold. By using this repeatedly it gets into the pores of the metal. This has really worked for soldiers in the Civil War, through NVA in Asia, common cleaner in Africa during 60's.The reason I am posting this is, while there are many kind and helpful members in CGN, I can't help but comment on people insisting on using water hot, cold or anywher in between on carbon steel. The other thig I have used for years on semi-auto slides winter and summer is Garage door grease from again C.T. three small tubes for 5 bucks I find it as close to USGI gun grease as I have ever seen. Thanks for the time feel free to comment

Thanks guys
I have a couple of cans of fluid film in the garage that I bought a while ago , will give it a whirl.

You can get it at better drug stores but is very expensive, bulk amounts are avail. for much less money from an outfit called Sage Products in the USA, goggle it. They have supplied me with all kinds of materials for making lubes, etc.

I buy mine from wal-mart pharmacy for $11 per pound. They ordered it in.

I imagine the superstore pharm would do it as well, and be cheap.

 Holy mackerel!! I have been using Fluid Film for quite a few years to clean my rifles after using corrosive ammo, and have posted so. Nobody has ever owned up to using the stuff until now! I give the old rifles a final swab with the stuff, and have never had rust. Maybe the "boiling water, stand on one leg and recite the complete (whichever) army manual on cleaning your rifle," method is okay, but a can of stuff that sits quietly until its next use suits me! When I have a fit of thinking a can is too expensive, I just think of my old SAT barrel Mosin and how many cases of Fluid Film it could buy me, I'm okay again.

Fluid Film works, fellas. It's okay! Nobody will tell the Imperial Wizards of your folly. Try it! :p
