Lapping compound

Just wondering where to buy lapping compound? Looking for 600-800 grit.
Anyone got some?

Go to an auto repair store and ask for a can of valve grinding compound. I use Clover Compound. It comes in 15 different grits up to 1000. 800 grit would be 5A.

I ordered a fire lapping kit from NECO that has #220,#400,#800 and #1200 grit. This is nothing like valve grinding compound and doesn't embed in the rifle steel. It cost about $75 by the time S+H and exchange at the time.I have 90% of it left.Came with two small steel plates for rolling bullets on.The owner can give you pistol powder loads for whatever caliber you're doing.I could sell what 's left.............Harold

I also use Clover Leaf 600 grit for ring lapping. Automotive suppliers suchs as NAPA or Acklands should be able to help you out.

The Dremel case at Canadian Tire will usually have those little tubs of jeweler's rouge. Also, regular toothpaste can work as a lapping compound.
