I just received an e-mail from Hirsch Precision, notifying me, that they have received the Lapua 260 Rem brass. That is perfect timing, as my 260rem is built and on the way.:)

The loaded rounds will have a .294" neck diameter with Lapua brass. Remington brass measures about .291" neck diameter. This is important info for you shooters that are ordering a reamer.

.223 here... I'm just new to reloading. I have a Shilen SS Match being made (5 month wait FML). Plan on shooting the 70-80gr Bergers Mystic runs for his long range .223.

I currently use Federal "FC .223 Rem" stamped brass I collect. But I know once I get the new barrel I'll have to switch to some more serious brass...

How many reloads can one expect from Lapua brass?

Of the brass, (Generally speaking of course) Federal is the bottom of the barrel, then comes remington, then winchester, then moving up you get into Norma, Nosler, Hornady, then up at the top you have Lapua. it is a tiny bit thicker which may reduce volume, but it is extremely consistent and lasts waaaay longer.

Is it for a bolt action or a semi-auto? It makes a big difference in case life.

We have been emailing customers who ordered .260 Rem brass, but many are bouncing and some servers don't suppoirt attachments. For those, we'll calll when we can.

Regards,

Peter

I class the Lapua brass right at the top of the heap.
While many like Norma & Nosler brass, I find them both on the "soft" side, particularly in certain chamberings.
Winchester is still first choice if I MUST use domestic, and Federal sits at the bottom of the heap. Eagleye.

Thankfully my brass and bullet order arrived from Hirsch Precision today, just in time to beat the mail strike. Thanks again for great service Peter.I just seated a few Lapua 123gr Scenars, and a few Berger 130gr VLDs, and the neck OD was .294" to .2945" according to my micrometer.

stubblejumper, thanks for this spec, as we have not yet obtained a pin micrometer, which is, as I understand, the best tool for measuring brass, but measuring diameter of loaded round is fine. So it calls for a .292 bushing, therefore we must increase our stock.
