Lapua 6.5 Creedmoor coming!

I think the x47 is still the better option if you reload. If you don't or sometimes buy factory ammo, the Creedmoor is the way to go.
 
We will have 6.5X47 Lapua ammo in January. Will update on brass as soon as we get positive and credible info.

If people spent as much time learning to read wind as they did trying to acquire the newest "wiz bang caliber" or other shooting gadgets, peoples shooting abilities would go WAY up.

The difference in ballistics between the 6.5mm calibers is so minuscule it's laughable.

If you guys want to get rid of your "junk" hornady brass, I will do you all a favor and you can send it to me for disposal.

I have been shooting the 6.5 CM for over 6 yrs, long before the RPR craze and have had no issues whatsoever with Hornady brass. Another source of brass will only benefit shooters but hope Lapua sticks with the Creedmoor specs and use large rifle primers. Looking at what Kevin Thomas of Lapua USA said is they are suggesting using small rifle primers. If that is the case I will stick with Hornady brass. I guess we will have to wait and see.
 
After shooting the 6x47L for a while, I would definitely go 6.5x47L (since I reload). The brass is amazingly strong, noticeably stronger than my Lapua 308 brass (large primer, haven't tried the Palma). There are no powder ignition problems with the small primer (at least with magnum primers). Also, you can chase the lands till your bullet falls out of the case with the x47, even with the longest bullets and they will never be in the donut area.
 
Ballistic performance b/w the options are small but there are other factors as Komboyatch said. I am wanting to get a 6.5X47 barrel for my AI that is on its way.

That's another reason I went with the CM over a 6.5x47, the small rifle primers. I am shooting an AI AX with a AINA 6.5 CM bbl and didn't want any issues with the large firing pin in the AI bolt. Some guys have had issues with piercing small primers.
 
I was going to go that way as well but I checked with AI and mine has the small firing pin. If I can get a creed barrel first I still might go that way - that is how little I care between these options.
 
They have a small firing pin bolt for the AI rifles now. The team AI guys use them to shoot 6x47L, 6.5x47L and 6mm Dashers in their rifles.
 
I know south of the border AI rifles are offered with the sfp...I am quite happy with the CM and have no need to get the bolt face bushed.
 
Have just heard from Finland and comment is that 6.5mm CR is on a "development list". They will not commit to dates or anything further at this time.

I'll be doing up a x47 this winter as well. Have yet to decide if I rebarrel and true my current R700 or start fresh and keep my .308 rig as a back up. What's the consensus on the whole small firing pin thing? Most guys getting there stock bolts bushed or just run it and see?
