Lapua vs. 338 RUM

Given the long life of Lapua brass, in the calibres I have shot with it, it makes no sense to purchase anything else but. Buy one batch of Lapua, or buy several batches of lesser brass. Spend your money all at once, or spend more, over a longer period of time. Buying quality stuff, the first time, as opposed to buying crap, more times, is math that is lost on quite a few.

Does Lapua make 300 Winchester brass? I've got 3 or 4 firings on my Winchester brass and it's starting to show signs that it'll not last long. Even with neck sizing only. Might be worth spending the extra on Lapua if it will last longer.

I WISH they still did, but unfortunately they ceased producing it about a year ago.
It WAS spendy, but worth the $$ in my opinion.

I too am a fan of the Lapua and Norma brass, alas my wallet is not! I do use it for several calibers, however, when I'm looking to eliminate as many variables as possible in order to yield the absolute best accuracy I'm capable of.

Probably the only complaint I have about "Lapua" is how to pronounce the damn name!

I've always pronounced it "Lap-waah" and a Finnish buddy of mine says I'm saying it correctly. Everyone else I encounter always call it "La-poo-ah." :)

For the .300 Win. Mag. I have been getting good results with heavily prepped R-P Nickle brass. With stout loads, and only neck sizing, with the occasional shoulder bump, accuracy and case life have been very good, for non Lapua brass. The Nosler brass is rumoured to be good, but I have never tried it. Maybe next batch.

Kind of curious as to the velocities attained {real world chronographed velocities, not book estimates please} using 250gr bullets in both the RUM & Lapua.
Keep the answers to what can be obtained with a decent load that won't junk the brass on the second reload.
Thanks RC

Gunboy: Lapua brass is better then Rem/Win/Federal Brass. How do I know? I used to do all the things you mentioned (uniform primer pockets, deburr flash holes, and even out the necks). What a pain in the ass that is! After you are done all that work to save a few cents on a piece of brass, you still end up with brass that isn't as concentric as Lapua (Case walls are not even). Before you complain about the cost of the brass - consider how much time you waste (time is worth something isn't it?) how many pieces of brass are discarded (I used to weight sort) and all the extra costs for the equipment that you have wasted to make brass that isn't even as good as the stuff that comes straight out of the box from lapua... BTW I don't sell Lapua/Norma Brass.

No way, IVI brass is the best, Since is free, got it from a buddy in the Army. Just kidding.

I can agree that is that is best you can get, I am sure it last, but not best for the buck. if you spend the time to prep winchester or Federal brass, I am sure it almost as good, best bang for the buck. I never have problem with win brass or Federal brass, just don't load them as hot, I got up to 8-9 reloading on a set of Federal brass, now and then there a few that crack in the neck, and discard, but majority of them work out great.

BUT does Winchester or Federal make either 338 RUM or 338 Lapua brass?

Lapua does make 308win brass, by the way how did you do on Sunday RicK, did you use Lapua brass?

If a guy wanted to Used 338lapua brass, he had to have a 338rifles, but if he wish to go the cheap way, it work fine with a rem700 standard magnum bolt face Long action in 338rum. Lapua sure are better, but the rum work just fine.

Considering you can get up to 20 reloads from Lapua brass, I still fail to see how the other brands are better for the buck. Again, if you haven't ever used Lapua brass, then how in the hell do you even know what you are talking about? If you can call what you're doing, talking.

Because if you did, you wouldn't be crowing about how 8-9 reloads from another brand is good value, as you would know you can twice that from Lapua brass.

did you ever try reach that 20 load mark yet?, and what caliber?, How many round did you have then?
Cost over $300for a box of 100 338lapua brass, What a Smart guy.

I have reached the 20 load mark several times with Lapua brass, have you? Of course not. You have never even purchased Lapua brass. I purchased .338 Lapua brass for less than $300.00 here in Canada. Another example of you not knowing what you are talking (pun there) about. And, thank you, as I am quite smart, I easily recongize that buying quaility the first time, saves money in the long run. That's about the only thing you have correct.
