I have a question... I can get 300+ norma Brass for 80 bucks. It is once fired.

But everyone keeps saying that Lapua is a better more consistant brass for the money but I can not get it for very cheep... It will be about $250 for the Lapua...

What would the reccomendation be.

The cheep side of me is saying you don't need the Lapua, but the performance side of me is saying it is the best so just get it even tho is it 3 times as expencive

Thanks for the Imput

I have some older Norma brass. It has a headstamp of .375 Weatherby Magnum, and I converted them to .458 American.
I have other brands of H&H magnum brass, and these were the first (Norma) to appear to have loose primer pockets.
I don't know what current production brass is like.
EDIT: 3 to 4 firings.

I have 200 Norma Brass in 6mm Norma BR with 6 to 8 firings. I have had good luck with the Norma, however it is becoming more difficult to close the bolt - even after bumping the shoulder and proper trim length. I have also purchased 200 Lapua brass in 6mm Norma BR. I have only had one firing so far, not allowing for a comparison.

I also shoot Lapua brass in 338 Lapua Mag. While the brass length grows more than I expected after each firing, it stands up well to this super high pressure load.

Not sure on Norma but I shoot 6 BR and have over 30 firings on some brass
with Lapua and still see no problem with any of it whatsoever. Using a fairly
light load for target but still going with it.

Buy the NORMA 1F brass and enjoy it.

Very nice stuff.

Remember that durability has to be taken in perspective. Match shooters then to load just a wee bit warm and standard brass does wear quickly compared to the Lapua and Win.

However, when loaded to more 'normal' pressure, Norma brass works just fine. It is factory WBY brass after all.

That is a smoking deal and brass is not getting any cheaper. I have played with most every brand of brass commonly available in Canada and can say I have not had brass be the limiting factor in accuracy.

Even mucked with lake city 30-06, IVI 308, and DIZ 303 Brit brass. All worked just fine once you prepped it.

Brass for what cartridge?

Norma is consistent, but quite a bit softer than lapua. In high pressure cartridges, you will likely notice primer pockets getting loose long before you do with Lapua, but 80 bucks for 300 is a good deal even for Winchester brass.

Lapua is not more consistent brass then Norma. As stated earlier it is more durable then Norma. The primary complaint towards Norma brass is the loosening of the primer pockets (depending on calibre). Both companies produce fantastic brass.
