Lar-15 10/30 Mags

From the reddit post

TL;DR: They're not being allowed in. If they slip through the cracks somehow and you get some, then awesome.
I've spoken with someone who deals with the actual importation of these products within the CBSA and they've told me they're basically not being allowed in.
They're incorrectly blocked to 10 rounds by just adding springs to the bottom instead of a permanent block, pin or rivet that it should have.
They're also originally USGI 30 round magazines spray painted over the original stamp and marked as LAR magazines and sometimes incorrectly as "10x 55.6mm cartridges". Yes, "55.6". They need to be manufactured as a LAR magazine so this is an issue.
The documents they say they have for them are just a copy of our laws which only shows that they know they're pinning them incorrectly and knowingly breaking them.
Zahal isn't shipping any more orders until something happens to the shipment being held by customs.
If you've ordered some, they are offering refunds, so you can get your money back if you like.

I know of one other company trying to get similar mags in. They have sent samples to the rcmp for approval apparently, and these were sold as 5/30 mags which may be approved as 10/30(buyer beware). The difference is these were designed and produced as xcr pistol mags and not simply re purposed.

Some clown shop in BC was selling dimpled steel 10/30 "AR15 Pistol Mags" a few years ago... I recall them being banned from CGN but I can't recall if the Ponies went knocking as well.

IIRC they were drilled out the original spot welds and rewelding. Pretty textbook case of remanufacturing a rifle mag and trying to call it a pistol mag. Vs Zahal at least saying that these are dedicated pistol mags. :shrugs:

They were done up like this...

I have an order for 10 metal 5/30(maybe 10/30 depending on the horse boys) from Lockhart and 10 from bartons. We'll see how it plays out

The Barton's listing looks sketchy as all hell. To my knowledge Hexmag have never made a dedicated "pistol magazine" for use in Canada, only the standard 30 round rifle mags blocked to 10 as per California and other state laws.

Looks like a copy and paste of American website description

I looked at Hexmags website and don't see any "pistol carbine" mags, but I do see 10 round Cali mags... I sent an email to Bartons to see if they could tell me how they're marked, but I don't see how you wouldn't get completely f****d by the cops if you got busted with one.

Looks even worse than the Zahal 10/30 fiasco. I can't imagine that these will pass muster IF they're actually 10/30. They would have to be specifically marked as LAR-15 mags.

Hi jjr,

These magazines were manufactured specifically for the Canadian market and aren’t available on their US web site. These gems have been stamped as pistol carbine magazines and are a Bartons Big Country exclusive.

Cheers,
Mike
