Is it legal to use LAR-15 10rd pistol mags in a XCR to hunt with?

Not in Ontario, target shooting is ok, but don't get caught hunting with it.
Not true, depends on your province's magazine restrictions. Look at your provincial regulations!!!! That's the only way to know!

Yes in AB you can only hunt with a 5 round cap, and you can use .223 just not for big game. You cannot use 22 cal bullets for hunting big game, deer, moose, elk, sheep, bear, ect.
NO. You can only have a mag that is pinned for Five rounds for hunting in Bantario.
Last I checked the Ontario hunting regulations, they defaulted to the imposed limit from the Criminal Code with respect to magazine capacity on a semi-auto centerfire rifle. I don't think they would have considered the legality of a LAR-15 magazine.
Probably easier if you just plugged it to 5 to save any hassles - or give MNR a call for clarification on the issue.

NOTE: The criteria for broadheads used for bow hunting big
game and wild turkey have been simplified. A broadhead
used for these species must have at least two sharp cutting
edges that are at least 22 mm wide.
The length of an arrow is measured from the base of the
arrowhead to the bottom of the nock slot.
You must plug a semi-automatic or repeating shotgun so
that it will not hold more than a total of three shells in the
chamber and magazine combined.
On the Aulneau Peninsula (WMU 7A), from August 15 to
December 15, you must not use a shotgun loaded with ball
or with shot larger than number 2 lead shot, steel shot that
is not larger than triple BBB shot, bismuth shot that is not
larger than double BB shot or a rifle of greater calibre or
projectile power than a rifle known as the .22 calibre
rim-fire rifle. The calibre limitations do not apply to flintlock
or percussion cap muzzle-loading rifles.
Under the Criminal Code of Canada you cannot possess
any clip/magazine that holds more than five shots for a
semi-automatic centre fire non-restricted firearm unless that
clip/magazine has been specifically exempted, pursuant to
the Firearms Regulations.
Probably easier if you just plugged it to 5 to save any hassles - or give MNR a call for clarification on the issue.

I have asked this question of a retired CO and that was the answer I got. To avoid issues with CO and LEOhttp://www.canadiangunnutz.com/'s, carry a copy of the legal documentations stating 10 round LAR mags are legal.
Barring that....learn to shoot better or change ot mags faster so you can live with 5 round mags

^^Wrong. Mag limit of for rifle specifically states that it is based on the criminal code for rifle mags. Only shotguns have limits that that specifically limit them to 2+1.

The LAR while, adhereing to the letter of the law in one category can also be conceived as breaking the "spirit" of the law in regards to centerfire,semi auto with detachable magazines. The question was: Is it legal?
The answer is: YES!
It adheres to the law in all categories, period. This has been proven with the use pistol mags in rifles as well as rifle mags in pistols (think CX4 storm.). There is no controversy.

Actually we have so many restrictions, why self impose another one on our selves. The hunting regs in ON at least are very clear on the matter. If the mag is specifically exempted it is good to go.
That being said, I would keep a copy of that section of the regs, along with copy the document confirming the legality of the LAR-10 with me when hunting with one, to help avoid unnecessary disagreements and or delays.
Now if only I could afford a non-restricted rifle that accepts LAR mags
. Ah hell with it, I would just stick with my bolt actions anyway....but that is just me. 35 Whelen for ground hogs anyone?

Or would it compare to a national Hotline call in show,with you being the gun law Guru, with Short, and to the point, Upper Case(YES) with "Period!" answers!, with the implied intent on schooling someone, and then quickly pushing a button and moving on to the next boring question from your uninformed, neophyte audience?
To keep what you have(Legal 10 round magazine), sometimes its wise to hide it once in awhile, else "You cast your pearls before swines, and they devour them and then trample you".
