Hey everyone,

Ive been chasing the elusive AR-180B to no avail for a month or two. One came up yesterday, and I missed it by an hour. I am pretty much giving up at this point lol. Does anyone have any suggestions for non-restricted rifles that are compatible with AR mags so I can use the LAR15 10 rounders?

I am currently looking at the SU-16F but am wondering what my other options are. I read somewhere that you could take an 858 and use a magwell adapter, but I dont think I want another one of those and am going for the black look on this one.

The top end of my budget is $1200, but would rather spend around 800-1000. So no ACRs for me :(

Thanks for the suggestions in advance

Hey I'm leaning toward su-16 for same reason. I think the mag well adapters for the cz858 are getting mixed reviews. New gen might be better. For around a grand there are not a lot of options. The cheapest AR180 I've seen was like $1800. Unless you want to go restricted a norc AR or NEA AR. I live in the boonies so I wanna go non restricted so I can use it for coyotes occasionally. So the only real option is su-16

The one yesterday was priced very reasonably, $1250. I would never pay $1800 for the AR-180B. Too bad they are stamped 5.56, or Id just import one from the USA, they are running like $600 to $800 down there lol.

I am looking for non-restricted, since I live close to an abandoned gravel pit on crown land and like to plink there, so the Norc AR is out of the question :(.

I saw an AR180 on there I thought yesterday for $2000. All done up though. Lol. I know I'd like to have one too. But for $2000 I'll get an xcr. Su-16 about the only option for around a grand. In one of the su-16 threads on here I saw a cgn'er had one with an fn fal quad rail on it. Looked sweet! I here the accuracy on them is pretty good. They are very light make a great carry rifle in the woods

my 0.02, I would prefer an all metal gun with a proven desing (csa 223) over the kel tec system (for almost the same price range). I may be superticious but I saw some review about the plastic receiveir being cracked on a normal day. I would'nt try it at -20 during the winter. The Gen 2 mag adapter seems to work better than the first and I think I've learn somewhere that a metal gen3 was in progress. I know its not on your plans to get a second VZ model...but it may be the wise choice.

I was looking for the same thing a few months ago, and I also ended up thinking that the SU-16 is the best option. For the price its hard to beat, and LAR mags work perfectly along with any other AR mag. I haven't had any reliability issues with mine after 500 rounds, its accurate, and it can be customized to be an awesome AR look alike. Also being non restricted it adds up to a really fun rifle to shoot :).

And yeah the FAL quad rail is a great addition to the rifle :p.

Hey!! Yeah it was your rifle I was talking about in above post. Man it looks good with that quad rail!! Did it require a lot of modification to fit? Easy to remove? I'm building one like yours in a couple months.

To OP I forgot about the benelli MR1. I saw one in EE for $1250. The ergos seem really good but the looks are well IMO are ugly. Looks weird to me. But it's a benelli so I bet it functions great!

Like it was said , the MR-1 is a very good one and take all related mag to the AR, accuracy and reliability is excellent and saw a couple on the EE for under 1300.00... JP.

That thing is ###yful. How did you install the rail, was it drop in or modified?

I have to agree with caramel here. Since the "tacticool" version of the Su-16 will run you about $1,100 with tax/shipping, you'd be better off picking up an MR1 for a few hundred dollars more. Gas piston system, ergonomics certainly aren't any worse, much higher QC and durability - and the MR1 will be noticeably more accurate.
