You can build a large rifle and still be light... costs a lot to do though...
Here is a 7 pound 300 Win Mag built for long range hunting...

There are carbon fibre barrelled rifles out there that weight more than that out of the box new and in smaller calibers, curious what the costs and components were, looks like things were lightened up a bit on the action as well.
Will the owner put a lighter scope i.e. Leupold or Swarovski or a heavier unit like a nightforce or heavier target type scope?
It was a 700 action I trued and bumped the bolt and blasted a pattern on the action... the customer then had the bolt fluted and the bolt handle lightened and then coated (somewhere) ... he supplied everything, all I supplied was labour... my last build for this season.
