Does anyone have experience with airguns around .50 caliber (that will either take a .490 or .495 round muzzleloading ball)? I have heard of such things, I've even heard of people hunting with them.

Go to Pryramid Airguns and see the Dragon Slayer .50 they carry made in Korea.Large military airguns have been around since Napoleanic times usually owned by the rich...................Harold

Having shot one, I can attest they are completely freaking fun! This particular rifle was as mbogo3 mentioned, a ShinSung Career Dragon Slayer. Can't comment too much on them otherwise. Check out the Canadian Airgun Forum as there's been some posts regarding these big bore air rifles.

There are a number of people who make custom high calibers. Check out GLbarnes if he's still custom machining airguns.

Won't say much about his repertoire, he's supposed to be snobby or something apparently, but his work has quality that you can't get anywhere else. Also theres a long waiting period.

My buddy has a .45 cal airgun that's a lot of fun. The brand escapes me at the moment, but I think it's Chinese. Not cheap to buy, but very cheap to shoot if you cast your own lead balls for it.

Thanks for the info guys, I thought it might be fun to try somthing different. Also I heard that Louis and Clarke used an airgun on their journey. That's what got me thinking.

I think the Dragon.50 is shooting around 750fps with the ball load.Deer and boar to around 75 yards? Harold
