Hi.

Basically, i've been checking for magazines in .50 beowulf or .458 for .223 use.

But despite my research i'm still confused about whether or not they are prohibited, under what conditions and use, etc... Some people say they are totally banned, other say they are fine but restricted to 2 rounds or something, other say they are still 100% fine..

So what is it?

Thanks.

Don't bother, the RCMP have already released a notice that any STANAG pattern magazine that holds more than 5 rounds of 223 is prohibited unless it was manufactured and labeled by the manufacturer as a pistol magazine.
This is not law but if you are unlucky enough to get a cop that charges you with it you'll be spending time in court and walking away with some substantial lawyer bills if you get off, and if the judge sides on the RCMP's side you could lose all your firearms for life and not be compensated for what they take away.

The only people's opinion that really matters is that of the RCMP since they will be the ones charging you. Our opinion or interpretation of the law or their notice is kinda irrelevant since you're the one that will have to deal with the charges if you were stopped with those magazines by a cop that buys into the silly notice. Saying that the guys on CGN said it was ok will not get you anywhere in court. The court considers the RCMP the subject matter experts so it's going to be a hard battle to win.

Right now is a bad time to be pushing limits and looking for loopholes, we don't need any black eyes on our sport while C-71 looms overhead. Give them no reasons to say that the stupid bill is needed to protect the public from us.

Again, they
